Looks like a little hole in the wall from the road, but it nice inside. Because the restaurant is on the lagoon, you walk in and are instantly hit with a sewerlike smell that makes you want to barf, but seeing the hundreds of turtles and the 2 alligators swimming around while you dine is pretty cool and worth the smell. Food, drinks and service were fantastic!! Our server Francesco was the best! We started with the tableside guacamole, fish tacos, and spicy margarita...Amazing! I ordered the lobster pablano and thought it was okay. Lobster was overcooked and I didn't care for the sauce it all laid in. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye and garlic shrimp with baked potato. His was great! Francesco ended our dinner by bringing us a slice of key lime pie and some kinda chocolate alcoholic beverage. Both were delisg! Would definitely visit again, but think I would go to the beach location that has a bigger menu selection

Quaint establishment that belies the quality of the food. Very fresh seafood, well prepared and beautifully plated. Make sure you hear the chef's specials of the day for some off menu great choices. The Caesar salad is prepared table side and the preparation is a show in itself. The night we were there a saxophonist played great old standards and as well as more contemporary pieces. Not too loud and the perfect background for a relaxing meal. If you sit next to the water make sure to watch for turtles and crocodiles. End the evening with a Mexican flaming coffee, another table side show. The wait staff were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. All in all, a wonderful dining experience.

It was amazing! We had a table that looked out over a lake that was full of turtles and birds and all kinds of amazing animals but it was sunset so we had the sunset as well with the color changes. At this time of the year you do not need reservations. The food was amazing. Service was fantastic. We had the coconut shrimp and my husband had the fish . The Menu very extensive. It has a big blue shrimp. They were soft and tender like they should be. The restaurant was open air. It was clean. The bathrooms were clean. It was a huge thatch roofed building with elevated ceilings. There was all kinds of art and things all over the walls. Lots of pictures of famous people that have been there.

Whilst the food was good, the absolutely awful service and lack of attention from any of the staff is enough to put me off ever eating here again. No meal or dish could ever be that good in order to overcome the distinct lack of charm in both the premises decor or their staffs unprofessionalism.

When reserving the table (in Spanish I might add), the girl on the end of the phone asked me four time what time the reservation was for.

Upon arrival, there was nobody at the reception area to greet us and we had to wait 5 mins before anyone showed us to a table. They also didn't find out reservation, made only 45 mins earlier!

We were given a wine menu, but no food menu. We only got those after I had to ask for them. There was a salad bar, but we were at a loss if it was open to all or a different menu option. Nothing was explained to us.

The food took an age to appear. When it did, it was shortly after we decided that we'd raid the salad bar and suffer the consequences. We weren't offered a cocktail menu, weren't told what beers they had, what specials, if any, were on the menu. The staff didn't seem to care at all about any of their customers. Trying to grab their attention was like an exercise is semaphore communication. The final straw on this camel's back was when I asked for the bill....twice....and had to wait 15 mins until it actually arrived.

I get that their clientele are people on holiday whom they might never see again, but is that really a good enough reason to have inattentive lackadaisical staff running the front of the house, while the kitchen turns out great food?...

The location of this Blue Shrimp is nestled against the river with plenty of birds and other animals to catch a glimpse of. The water is a bit murky but it's still nice to be next too enjoying your food. We went with a group of 7 of us and got 1 of 2 of the tables that goes kind of out onto the water and is covered. It was really nice and had a fan to keep us cool in the humidity. The food was pretty good. None of us were too crazy about the Calamari or fried shrimp, they seemed to be something I could pull out of the freezer that I would get a huge portion from Costco. These weren't something we would order again. My husband got this entire fish 🐟 filet that was incredible and I got 2 Blue Shrimp with 2 lobster 🦞 tails. Absolutely excellent. The friend sitting next to me got the fish of the day, mahi mahi, now the fish was prepared excellently, it was the portion that was ridiculously small, especially for the price...even in pesos. Our other friends got the ceviche and seafood pasta and they seemed to enjoy. We went for desert and had chocolate lava cake with ice cream, key lime pie, and flan. Everyone enjoyed their deserts very much. Especially that lava cake, it was cooked to perfection with the warm chocolate oozing out as you cut into it yummy 🤤😋 So overall we will be back. This was for lunch and we want to try a nice date night dinner here next with the riverd side view and the beautiful ambiance....

My wife booked this place online for new years. When we arrived 2 hours before the stroke of midnight there was a small line up and then we were next with many many people lined up behind us. They were in panic mode pulling tables and chairs out from storage and other places. They started setting up tables and chairs almost at the entrance..and lucky us we got one of them..right next to the booming dj speaker. We should have at that time left but we thought it would have got better..but it did not. The drinks were 310.00 each which translates to $24 cdn ..I am not even going to state what we paid to reserve seating..it's embarrassing. It was obvious they over booked or maybe thought tables would leave...but they did not..we saw people waiting for 30 to 45 minutes at the door before we got it..the staff it seemed really trying to help as you could see they were under stress... the amount of money we paid for the food we got was also a real disappointment..I could go on and on..but I am sure by now you can get the jest... we left before new years..this is and was a worst ever new years experience..EVER..the true meaning and definition of a tourist trap...do not know how it is off holiday time but I would suggest there must be 100 better places in the area...truly a real...
