Iâm always a bit nervous visiting a new restaurant because, for the staff, they are all working out the kinks and learning to work together. The owners seem to have experience because they have two other establishments, one in San Blas and the other in Tepic. The restaurant has only been open for 5 days.
The staff were pleasant and efficient - perhaps over efficient because I was approached by many asking me whether everything was Ok. Thatâs good - better to err on the side of caution. Everything was fine. In this time of Covid 19, they are all giving close attention to making sure that table surfaces are clean. Of course, all the staff wear the necessary face mask. Tables are well placed sufficiently far apart.
I let the waiter steer me in my choices: to drink one of their special margaritas - tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, grapefruit and orange with just a hint of rosemary. A good combination with no flavour too dominant.
As an appetizer, I chose a pate of shrimp, I imagine it is mixed with mayonnaise and a splash of cream. It was a little on the bland side so could do somewhere with spicing up - might even benefit with a splash of fish stock. Portion size was good as was the presentation although the accompanying surround of rather thick biscuits is too heavy for what should be a delicate flavour. Less is more. Maybe French toast might be more appropriate.
My main course was Mahi Mahi en papillote cooked in tin foil - potato lyonnaise, a touch of onion and cheese. This was flavourful and delicious. Prices are reasonable. Some spelling mistakes in the printed menu - thatâs my bugbear.
Otherwise, well done. Iâm looking forward to...
Read moreWe had an excellent afternoon at El Estero. We arrived a little early and were invited to sit or walk around the grassy area and admire the iguanas + turtles. The settings in the afternoon is extremely entertaining. Birds, turtles, iguanas, even a small alligator. The grassy area goes right into the lagoon. The service was extremely good and attentive. The food was also very good. We had fish fillet and zarandeado whole fish which was excellent. We also had a warm seafood cocktail that was delicious. We drank a margarita that was flavourful and a very cold beer. This would be a very fun entertaining spot if you have children that enjoy wildlife. I highly recommend this beautiful location...
Read moreGreat atmosphere, awesome food, the waitress and staff are so nice and kind with everyone (they DO have bilingual staff) the food has excellent taste, we ordered the parrillada estero which had garlic shrimp, breaded shrimp and sarandeado shrimp, with a burrito filled with marlin and some sarandeado meat (which is BOMB), and lastly rice. For drinks, we ordered a jar of lemonade, and a jamaiquita (which is hibiscus water with mezcal) the lemonade is made with fresh lemon, and it was super good.
Overall its a 10/10 its worth the price, the service is high quality. Definitely...
