I’ve been here a few times now and find the ambience really cool. It’s outdoors but mostly covered and the bar is literally built around a massive tree.

Live music most evenings. Food is mostly good and I’ll add a few comments (which I’ll qualify were based on one meal each for most); ribs very good, BBQ chicken a bit dry, garlic shrimp awesome - rice side a bit dry but veggies were al dente great. Desserts (cheesecake and carrot cake) were good and terrific portions and presentation.

Drinks were good and average prices for La Cruz (not cheap but better than a Canadian bar of similar quality - and that’s the way to judge things here in my opinion because we’re supporting the local economy/jobs).

A couple quite minor pet peeves were that I ordered extra-crispy fries with one meal and was charged an extra 50 pesos or so. I have NEVER anywhere ever been given that surcharge and I always order fries that way. Also, they charged a mandatory 100 pesos for cover for a great band one night and then the tip jar went around with an expectation of extra. Assuming the band received the cover charge cash, the tip jar was overkill and they were paid well.

Overall a terrific place to hang out for dinner and drinks. Staff are nice and attentive. I definitely recommend. It’s a bit off the beaten path and I only found it through...

Attended a celebration of life and it was arranged perfectly for the guests seating and table arrangements. The music (all locals) was great, as always. The Tree House seems to have one of the best sound systems in town, huge advantage for all the music lovers that pass through here. It's never over crowded due to the large amount of space and table arrangements. It has no stairs so it is wheelchair accessible, but there is raw ( natural ground) gravel so it could present a slight challenge for anyone that may be unassisted and using a medical apparatus. I haven't had a poor experience there over 7 years and 2 locations. The food has been great, although I haven't eaten there more than a few times. I'll update this after my next visit when I order from the menu. I recommend for you to...

Update 2022. Two years later still a great place for dinner and music. Thursday night: Sweet & Spicy performed, burger and fries special for 195 pesos includes 2 beers at no charge. Very open air. Saturday night: Bay Root played. Great mix of music. Calamari was okay but the breading was a little soggy. Chicken Burger very good.

A night of wonderful music and humor with Amy Armstrong as our entertainment after a very good meal that included ribs and chicken, along with a roasted potato and beans. We had an excellent server and hats off to Alfredo and his team for providing a great entertainment/dining venue in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. The chocolate cake was a large delicious choice for dessert....and check out the sinks outside the restrooms. You’ll...

We had a group of 7 of our gang go out to the Tree House for dinner and a show tonight, it was fantastic. The meal was excellent three people had the rib dinner with baked potatoe, one had the beef burger with fries and all the dressings, one had the BBQ chicken, two had the grilled Mahi Mahi fish dinner. All meals were incredible tasty. We also had an assortment of drinks we recommend the bucket of 6 beers for 175 pecos. This night we went to listen to a live band they were amazing, Amy Armstrong belted out hits like a super star. She was an incredible entertainer. Highly recommend this restaurant!

This is a big place, I bet this place could get mighty crowded with a good band. Music I think is every night. Food was pretty good, I had a burrito de Cameron with papas frittas and it good, but not the best. Lots of open area for dancing. Food was a bit pricier than other places in town serving the same food and drinks, maybe 20% higher. Though, 2 for 1 ribs on Friday is a smoking deal. I heard the is a cover two nights a week. They also have this huge Huanacaxtle tree in the building. Even the bar is built into it. Pretty cool.
