I was very surprised and happy about finding Indian food being served in Monterrey where I was almost tortured my husband to take me for a week and finally we also invited two other friends of ours to join us as it’s been a while for all of us to enjoy some chai, snacks and some Indian food.
We went there around 3.30pm on a Saturday and it took us some time to find the store located on the first floor and of course Google didn’t mention that. But we were happy to find it and we were actually hungry and saving our appetite for it after our hike. When we went inside and got closer to the counter as the menu was behind the counter and while we were looking it thinking what to order for about 5-7min later the lady behind the counter (who was actually there the whole time) goes ahead and tells us she doesn’t have all the items in the menu but a few which she didn’t explain clearly to us (I was wondering to myself that if they don’t have 60% of the items at 3.30pm what are they going to serve to people who come around 8.30pm as the store is open till 9.30pm). Anyways we went ahead and ordered few cups of chai, egg puff and sandwiches we looked for place to sit but there was no four seater available and we suggested it’s okay we can sit outside as there were plenty of tables available. For that the store lady mentioned you can eat outside but you’ll have to bring the plates back inside (she never said we don’t serve the food to you and the owner you can save your speech about your tea bar and not restaurant with you) yourself for which we agreed. We paid and she said it’d take about 20min for the food to get ready meanwhile we sat at a table right in front of the door of the store which the people inside the store can literally see us. We were chatting for a while and realised that we didn’t get any notifications for our food and I asked my husband to check and when he went inside to check the food was kept at the counter and no store employee cared to let us know (which is so not the way how they take care of their customers). Now, I have traveled and stayed at almost all states of India and have experienced the food and culture the food does not represent flavours even 50% close to what it actually should taste like. I was shocked to see the reviews where people have given great recommendations were not actually from Indians themselves. The only thing that was good was the Kadak chai. The egg puffs were less than a bite sizes portion with very less stuffings inside.
After this experience I went ahead and read the comments and it’s shocking to see the response from the store owner defending their bad customer service against customers and I saw that there were others who faced similar situation. Monterrey folks if you want to taste good Indian food you’re better off making it from scratch watching YouTube videos.
To the store owners please train your employees better to have better experience for the customers and don’t defend your lack of information. I refrain from adding pictures as it...
Read moreTL;DR I will be coming back as the staff, the vibe, and the food/drinks are 10/10
To start, the place is a wonderful calm break away from an otherwise bustling Plaza. The staff are kind and provide excellent service, which is made even better by the fact that the food and drinks here are absolutely amazing.
So much so I might have forgotten to take pictures until I was on my second cup of Masala Chai and over half way through the chocolate cake.
As for the tea, it's the best I've had in years, so not only did I promise to come back and will be back in the future, I returned a few hours later after shopping in the Plaza to try their Chicken Curry. The spice level was perfect for most people as it was present, but palatable to most people, while still bringing in all of the flavors you would expect out of the dish and the rice that accompanied it was perfect. As a drink with that meal I had a mango Lassi, it was a perfect balance and paired wonderfully with the meal. All in all, it's wonderful and I truly hope to see this...
Read moreWorst experience. I went in the hope of some India dinner. The table was firstly we asked to a girl who was working there, she did not reply. We asked for the menu she told me no cold breverage and no chicken dish available. It’s ok I thought we can order something veg but the actitudes of the girl was not good so need to leave the place. You should keep the people in restaurants who have attitude to serve and help the people with a smile. Never show attitude to your customers. Rather than this I recommend curry and sultan which provide great hospitality and Indian authentic...
