I stayed at La Mora for a week, and loved it. Rosa makes sure guests are very happy. There are 3 rooms on the second level above the restaurant, and a big one bedroom apartment on the third floor. Two of the rooms are small, with bar size fridges (stocked with beer, soft drinks and water - a blessing on arrival!). One is slightly bigger with a kitchenette. All rooms (I saw them all) have ceiling fans, floor fans, hot water (never used it), soap and towels, little safes and wardrobes. The rooms are basic, but spotless, with comfy double beds, not queen size. The three rooms share a thatch-shaded balcony overlooking the beach with three tables and chairs. |The third floor apartment is fantastic, I think it is the best value in San Agustinillo; I wish I could have had it, but I was a guest of it's occupant several times and saw it well. It is large, with a big private balcony with a stunning view of the beach. It is nicely furnished with a full kitchen and king size bed, and windows on all sides.|La Mora is well situated in the middle of town. The beach in front of the hotel has big waves: you can watch the surfers from your balcony. Some people do swim out front. I did too, but only in the company of friends. If you are not comfortable diving through/under breaking waves, there is a calmer spot a 5 minute walk up the beach where most people swim, there are still waves there, but much milder.|The restaurant downstairs is excellent for any meals. Don't worry about restaurant noise disturbing room guests, the sound of crashing surf drowns out everything! |San Agustinillo is a great little town. There are no big resorts or tacky tourist shops. The beach is spectacular. A few little shops sell drinks, snacks, and a few basics, but you can easily go to Mazunte, Zipolite, or Puerto Angel (5 , 10, & 20 minutes away by camioneta or taxi collectivo) where there are more shops. There is an ATM in San Agustinillo, but I heard it frequently runs out of money. 30 minutes away by taxi or collectivo is Pochutla, with several banks, including Scotiabank, shops and services. Pochutla has a busy weekly street...

Read moreI did quite a bit of research when we talked about staying in San Agustinillo and came to the conclusion that La Mora Posada was one of the best places to stay in SA for the money. There were no prices on TA so I emailed the hotel directly. Rosa responded promptly. There are 3 rooms on the second floor above the café, one with a small kitchette and the third floor is the one bedroom apartment. All have air conditioning and hot water, which is a rarity in this town. The rooms all have a separate entrance so you don't have to walk thru the cafe, or also so you can get in when the cafe is closed. The apartment was amazing! The bedroom had a king size bed that was actually pretty comfortable as far as beds go in Mexico. Lots of closet space with hangers and a safe in the closet. Bathroom with good size shower, toiletries included. Only negative thing I can say is the bathroom sink, while pretty, had zero water pressure. Full kitchen with stove, fridge, table and 4 chairs, toaster, blender, coffee maker, jug of purified water, dishes, silverware, glasses, etc. Attached living area had a futon that turned into a double bed and another seating area. An air conditioning unit in bedroom and one in living room. We only used the bedroom one at night. But the best part was the private terrace with two cushioned lounge chairs, table and 4 chairs, just steps from the ocean. Having your morning coffee out there was the highlight of our trip! All in all, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Owners are wonderful and will bend over backwards for you. They were even helping us arrange a taxi back to Huatulco. Oh...
