Café Los Búhos — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

We visited this café after seeing their stunning latte art featured on Instagram, but unfortunately, our experience didn’t match the expectations set by their feed. My latte was quite basic, with no latte art in sight, which was disappointing. We also ordered an oat milk latte for my partner, but instead received one with almond milk, and we were charged for it! Not only was the drink wrong, but it tasted awful.

On top of that, the service was incredibly slow. We waited about 15 minutes for just two coffees, and we were the only ones in the coffee shop at the time. This made the long wait feel even more frustrating. Overall, we were let down by both the quality of the drinks and the service. I’d advise not to be fooled by their Instagram posts. Looking for a lovely spot for lunch away from the noise and touristy crowds ? Look no further. We showed up late in the day, 30 minutes before closing, with a party of 8. The owners kindly stayed open late for us (that would be unthinkable in many places in the US) and all the sandwiches and smoothies we ordered and shared were delicious. The place is wonderful and I definitely recommend. The food is flavorful, the design is very pleasant and service was great. However there's some room for improvement. I wish they opened at 7 am or earlier. Also the menu books are old, worn and don't include any pictures of the food or translation to English, which would be nice. Please keep up...
