Highly Highly Highly recommended for someone looking for authentic pork tacos. A gem tucked away on the outskirts of Playa. In my quest for the best small bites in the world this is by far best taco to date. (I've traveled over 57 countries and 12 Latin specific)
From the USA and a local recommended this place. A bit outside of downtown Playa, but worth every minute it took to get there and would drive even further.
Carnitas were amazingly flavorful and fresh. Food served very quick. Carnitas come in meciza or Surtda. Meciza is the equivalent of "white meat only" or no fatty pieces. Surtida is "the whole pig" meaning they chop it all up and serve it. As it is pig I needed some fatty pieces so surtida. Then I ordered a barbacoa gordita but the carnitas took center stage. I ate 1/4 kg (little over half pound US) and was beyond satisfied. I ended up ordering some more carnitas to take away.
Men in back were chopping more food to fuel the pig cooking master oven they must have. I did not see it, but was able to see the suculant pieces of pig in the display.

Read more2024 - Great service, clean, and nice place that shows how Carnitas are really cooked. The food however was a bit bland and the carnitas were very clean wgite meat, however were dry and didn't have flavor. Overall result was 3 stars.
2025 - very good service and clean place. The consume de borrego was excellent as were the tacos de barbacoa. Increased to 4 stars...
