Loly Pop Café — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

The French owner of this Cafe is very persuasive and keeps bringing you stuff acting like he's offering you something on the house but he's in fact he's just going to add it to your bill. first he brings me a croissant as if it's the bread on the house. Then he asked me what I want to drink which is fine but I didn't ask for croissant but I'm sure he charged me for it. The orange juice has no pulp therefore not fresh as he claimed. The he asks if I want coffee. I said I only like frappucino and he bring me some sweet barely icy liquid that did not taste of coffee or hazelnut as I requested in an inadequate quantity. then he recommends something that I didn't really want because I wanted the lunch but it was breakfast time so I had to order from The breakfast menu. I said I want to eat everything cuz his reviews were good but the food turned out to be mediocre at best and certainly the quantity is inadequate. the quality is alright and the food isn't great. I think most of his reviews are fake. unless the people around here have zero taste because it's totally nowhere near as good a they said. I was very disappointed. He saw I was done but still no ticket then he says oh do you like lasagna and the Italian restaurants want his recipe. I said well it's later for lunch because I can bring you some so he gives me an order to go. Then he pressures you while you're looking at the bill, asking you how much tip do you want to give. like well maybe I don't want to give you any tip so it's all b* he's charging enough already for falsely represented chef created food. He tried to pressure me into ordering dessert but I was already done with this con. So it's all atmosphere which not why I go out to eat. My husband suggested to go at this place because a few members of his family recommended him to go there, I started to read the previous reviews and obviously I got captured by the negatives comments and I really didn’t wanted to go, but at the end my husband said He really wanted to go and I accepted, I put a lot of attention to the Owner ( trying to find in him all the bad things other customers said 😎) well I certainly can’t find NOTHING negative about the way He approach to us, I ask for a Americano Coffee and the Enchiladas Verdes, my husband had the chilaquiles with chorizo and everything was Soooooo good! Yes, the owner offered us a pastry but He never said that was “on the house “, certainly He mention about the chef, and I found Him so passionate for his restaurant which I think it’s normal and great! I felt welcomed and the service was good, obviously if you go to ANY restaurant you have to tip the server, if you don’t like to give a tip… well stay at home and do your own food, just saying! I recommend this place...

Absolutely Delightful!!!! So happy we found this fabulous cafe!! The service is super!! The owner is just a joy. His wife is an amazing pastry chef. Both take care of you with such care. We loved everything from the delicious latte and fresh squeeze orange juice and pastry twist filled with crème and chocolate. Yum!!! Then we ate every bit of the Huevos Divorciados and Enchiladas Suiza. OMGoodness they were beyond awesome! We ate so much we took home the apple tart which was not only delicious but beautiful! We will definitely be back...
