Agave Mexican Cuisine — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

So we are at the Royalton Riviera Cancun for the 5th time . Tonight we went in to Agave , the Mexican restaurant. After having to wait almost an hour. When we entered the restaurant, it was maybe, 50% occupied. (Got in at 8:30 pm) don't understand the wait. Servers were good, food was at best mediocre, with the exception of the coconut shrimp, which, as a.deep fried item, takes no talent to prepare. I had chicken enchiladas, and steak tacos. Neither of them had any redeeming qualities and I did not finish either. Tacos were dry,enchiladas were... Meh. Not coming back. Maybe for drinks and nachos, but not mains. I'm very disappointed at this restaurant. I had very high expectations of Mexican food at Agave. It let me down!

They served chips and pico de gallo as a starter. Pico de gallo contained only tomato and onion, not taste good at all. Chips were stale. We had melted cheese and Ajillo shrimp which wasn't so bad but not impressed at all. For main dishes, the red snapper was bland but rice was so salty. The flank steak taco was so tiny and bland. Although the atmosphere of this restaurant is impressive, the food and service just wasn’t it. We waited a whole hour for our main dishes just twiddling our thumbs. And finally when the food came out, we were immediately disappointed. Beef Fahita was mediocre, Red Snapper was okay at best, and only the Fish Tacos were only somewhat good.
