First of all, I have no idea where these 4 and 5 star reviews came from. If you are conflicted (as I was) weighing the high star reviews coupled with the beautiful beach photos and stellar treehouse architecture with the fact that “Glamping” is included in the brand name, allow me to clarify: there is minimal to no customer service at this hotel - there are no phones in the rooms. If you want food, ice, a fresh towel or your room cleaned, you have to find a staff member on the property and there’s a 50% chance that you will get what you asked for. George, who I believe is the manager??, thinks of himself more as a guest. He can be found smoking a cigarette with guests, having dinner with guests, sitting at the bar with guests. When you ask him for as little as a fork and napkin for your food you brought home because the kitchen closes at 8pm, he looks at you like you’ve interrupted his conversation and walked into his house. The water is a disaster. There was one day when we had none, unless you asked for it to be turned on, because allegedly the city supply was shut off, yet, we were at Yaan Spa, earlier that morning, having a beautiful couples bath. If you book this hotel, and I have no idea why you would for the price, you will be disappointed. We paid $834/night to have inconsistent hot water, sand in our sheets, awful customer service and depending on where your room is located — loud footsteps in the morning and night above you, guest blaring music and the best part - guests having sex and your whole room shaking. We had to find the comedy in it. This place is an SNL skit. I kid you not. Its just not worth what they charge and pretend to be. It’s worth $250/night - max. I recommend Papaya Playa Project. That is where we are now. With actual service on the beach. As I write this, we are enjoying margaritas and fresh oysters. There are servers constantly walking back and forth in uniforms, our room has a view of the ocean, there are phones in the room, the beach is equally beautiful, there is hot water and staff is everywhere to be found for $657/night. You deserve to enjoy your hard earned vacation. If you want to support a reserve and you are like me, I suggest donating to their cause and staying at...

I left a piece of my heart in Tulum, at Libelula.

Libelula translates to Dragonfly. The Dragonfly symbolizes going past self-created illusions that limit our growth and ability to change. It is a symbol of happiness, new beginnings, hope, and love. These ideals became a new reality for me during my stay at Libelula, a much needed break from the busy rat race back at home.

Libelula is unlike any place in Tulum. Tucked just inside the Sian Ka'an Reserve, it is just far enough away from the other beach hotels and restaurants to give the feeling of total seclusion. Careful not to disrupt the jungle and the beach, it was built in such a way that blends nature and luxury. The rustic setting is embellished with subtle decor as to highlight the beauty of the natural surroundings. The turqoise beach is a few steps away and if you're lucky like I was, you can stay in a cabana directly on the beach and fall asleep to the waves crashing and wake up to the most memorizing sunsets.

Karla and Memo are the proprietors. Family owned and family run, they are hands on and make each guest feel as they are part of their family. Karla is a majestic creature, who's beautiful smile and hospitable nature lend to the whole experience. She is complimented by her husband, Memo, who I've heard some call "the Mayor of Tulum"... A great guy whose vision of Libelula resulted in complete perfection. Stay long enough and you'll get to meet their adorable daughter and Karla's mother Alba.

The food. Best in Tulum. hands down. after Trying other options outside of Libelula, I found myself back at Libelula eating breakfast lunch and dinner there everyday because it is truly THAT good.

And last but certainly not least, Jorge. Jorge deserves 5 stars as the manager of the establishment. I consider him a dear friend, as I was honored to be able to peek inside of his world and get to know many sides of him. A true gentleman, wildly smart, multi-faceted... Jorge makes sure you are well taken care of from the moment you arrive until the moment you check out.

I cannot wait to book my next trip to Tulum. Libelula is the only place I would...

Nestled within the protected forest, Libelula Tulum offers a truly immersive nature experience. The hotel's location provides a serene and tranquil ambiance, allowing guests to connect with the surrounding environment. Throughout your stay, you may encounter the charming Coati, adding to the unique wildlife encounters.

The food at Libelula Tulum is exceptional, with a diverse menu that will delight your taste buds. While the preparation time may be longer, the flavors are worth the wait. Even if you're not typically a fan of Mexican cuisine, the dishes served here will likely change your mind. The staff's hospitality is outstanding, and spending time with the owners is a delightful experience. Armando's cocktail creations are masterful and not to be missed.

During your stay, you may encounter minor inconveniences, such as intermittent hot water issues and the need for improved air conditioning in units closer to the sea. However, these issues do not overshadow the overall experience.

Getting to Tulum's bars and restaurants is convenient, whether you choose to walk, use the bicycles provided by Libelula, or take a taxi. It's advisable to confirm taxi fares in advance. When venturing out along the beach at night, be cautious of aggressive dogs. Although the beach is not private, it is meticulously cleaned daily, and sunbeds are available for guests' comfort. The hotel features two bars: a beachside bar operating during the day and an indoor bar opening after sunset.

The highlight of your stay is undoubtedly the breathtaking view from your room, creating an unforgettable experience. The property is well-maintained, and the rooms are immaculate, ensuring a comfortable and clean environment throughout your stay.

In conclusion, Libelula Tulum offers an exceptional glamping experience in the heart of nature. From the stunning views and delicious cuisine to the warm hospitality and unique encounters with wildlife, it is a place where nature enthusiasts and food lovers can truly indulge. With its prime location within the protected forest, Libelula Tulum provides an...

Amazing experience here. The staff was all beyond wonderful. We really appreciated knowing the staff and seeing them around all day which made the property feel even safer. (We never for a second felt unsafe and always left our door unlocked while on the property) The proximity to the beach was our favorite part. The grounds were lovely and well kept. The main bar was wonderful and we enjoyed a few nights sitting on the swings talking to Jorge and the other bartender whose name I don’t recall, who were both wonderful, kind humans. The kitchen staff was perfect. Montour was the best. That man is a saint and we miss him already. Whoever is doing the cooking needs a raise. We had modest expectations for the food and ended up only leaving the resort once for dinner in six nights. Breakfast = amazing. Dinner = so good. Steak tacos = please send us more. Yeah there are bugs and yeah you need a taxi ($30) to get to the strip but who cares. This place is magical, and if you like off season pricing specials, there are giant sea turtles each night 50 yards away. Our room did not have AC but with ocean breeze we never had an issue. Rooms were clean and water in showers was perfect, and warm. It’s in a remote area so don’t expect to hear 40 different sets of music playing over one another while paying $200 for some guac and a beach chair. Instead you are with less than 20 people on a private beach with no one else in sight. Come stay here you won’t regret it.

This place is a true gem in Tulum and maybe in whole Mexico. Located at the end of the busy south beach in Tulum secluded in the Sian Ka‘an reservoir. During the night it is a very quiet place, no loud music just the ocean and birds. On the day you can relax on the beautiful beach while having good drinks and amazing food or take endless walks on the lonely beach of the reservoir. The chef is amazing. Every meal we had there was so good, made with fresh local ingredients. Also the variety of food was great, plenty of vegan/ vegetarian options and meat and amazing fish tacos as well. The manager Jorge, an amazing guy! Nice to talk to, super friendly and takes care of everything. He really made us feel somewhat being part of the Libelula family. All the other staff at the place is wonderful, sorry for not knowing all the names but you are the best! The room (we had the Sky Suit) was fantastic, the view of the ocean from your bed and balcony is just amazing. The room is not that big but set up with so much attention to details. During our stay we even got lucky to see some turtles hatching. It really was a stay in paradise. Thank you Jorge and thanks to all the other staff.
