This place was a joke! We are 3 women in our mid-thirties and have traveled extensively the world, we're laid back and absolutely fine with casual campgrounds. That said we had an awful stay! The campground prides itself of yoga, self-care and meditation but we found absolutely none of that! There was zero yoga/meditation classes sadly although there is yoga advertised. When we were there is was just a hang out for folks on drugs. The only highlight is the nature which obviously is beautiful in the whole region and the beach is opposite the street so close enough. The owner was evidently away and the place was run by her Canadian 'boyfriend' Martin when we were there in February. He was incredibly rude, not helpful and completely high on drugs the entire time! And we don't mean weed, the dude was like tripping/ hallucinating the entire time and couldn't even get us a cab the last day! ||So upon our departure as we go outside at dawn we wait for over 1 hour for the cab ( which he wasn't actually able to book us because he can't even speak Spanish). So the cab never came and because we were missing our bus for the airport out of desperation we had to ask him to drive us to the station which he did very unwillingly and after having to literally beg. I can't express how utterly terrorized we were the whole ride because he drove infuriated, high on drugs and incredibly fast! Then he had the audacity to scream at us and curse us out! At drop-off he shouted in my friend's face F* Y. We should have sued him. He also demanded extra money for the drive! He wanted more money than a cab even after having us almost miss our bus and flight! This person should not be running anything nor-less a campground rated well on lonely planet which we have always trusted completely. He's unprofessional, rude, drugged, unpredictable and has serious anger management issues. Stay away from this campground unless you really want a crazy hallucinogenic adventure! It was a really scary and upsetting stay for us. Highly not...
Read moreWhenever I go to Tulum, this is the only place I stay. It is simply magical. I love the people and the vibe. The cenote in the back is literally the ultimate swimming hole, crystal clear and refreshing. No matter how rough the ocean is, or how much seaweed there is, I always have a perfect place to swim. The campground is located past all of the development and noise, and is a true enclave of peace. At night, all I hear is the sound of the wind in the palms, and the distant roar of the ocean. The stars blaze above the trees in the darkness. ||||The campground is super clean and well kept. The tents are already set up, with comfy mattresses and electricity at night. The new outdoor bathroom/showers is simply gorgeous. Brushing my teeth at night at the outdoor sink, or showering with a palm tree growing right through the stall- is simply a delight. ||||Galia and Martin who run the campground are so lovely, and have become my friends. They are special people, kind and gentle, who go out of their way to be welcoming and helpful. Whomever is staying at the campground becomes part of a family of the moment. The communal kitchen is fully equipped and cozy; a great place to hang out and meet others.||||Highly recommend renting a bicycle to ride down the beach road to the fancy resorts and restaurants, and then return to the peaceful oasis of Cenote Encantado at night. An oasis is what it truly is. ||||If you're looking for luxury and fanciness, this is not your place. It is a campground after all. However, it's a fabulous, clean, quiet, comfortable, cozy, friendly, peaceful campground located on a beautiful cenote, at the quietest end of the beach road. For me it has become a home away from home, a refuge, and I'll always love it and...
Read moreWow thank you so much Galia and Martin and all the beautiful volunteers! Cenote Encantado is hands on the best place in Tulum for reconnecting with oneself and nature. First and foremost, the powerful Cenote which is what kept me staying from 5 days to almost a whole month. The water is so peaceful, so healing, really magical to reconnect with this element.. In the communal area there is usually interesting music and people, and really the beauty is that it was the most genuine place I found in the whole of Tulum. No one was putting on a mask, faking a smile or pretending to fart rainbows and butterflies. The staff is authentic, humans with big hearts and a lot of diversity, simply doing their best. I do appreciate their efforts to preserve the place and nature and the Cenote and be low impact. The facilities are more than one needs ; living in the jungle, hot water, clean toilets, big tents with mattresses pillow and lamps. Jungle living and close to water - be prepared for mosquitos!|The communal kitchen is beyond fully equipped we were cooking super delicious and elaborate meals with the volunteers :) and so cozy and chill with amazing drawings and funky vibes. There is a yoga room which is perfect for personal practice though being low season there weren't any group classes. And yeah there's wifi, electricity from 6 to midnight, drinking water, and even a Juicycle to make a smoothie on a bike! Also the ocean is accessible for guests just 50m further in a private beach which for me was exactly the jungle experience I...
