I was looking forward to try this vegan place in Mazatlan since I’m a local. I called ahead of time and they said they had a party of 10 coming in I told them no problem I’m patient I can wait they said ok no problem come in keep a mind I’m a party of 4. We get there 9:30 pm to avoid the rush of the party of 10 they told me they were going to have. I get there there’s 20 + in the party. We sat and waiting for the server to come and great us. She never did I walked up to her and politely asked for a menu she said sure. 5 min passed she comes up to the table and says we close the kitchen at 9:30 pm..and we have a a lot of people so we can’t serve you. So rude! I was with my 2 vegan boys anxious to eat. We waited over 20 min + so she could say that. (Extremely disrespectful.) The moment they couldn’t take more tables close your doors.. or right away let them know they won’t be served. Either way hope this awful experience never happens to anyone again.

Calling. All. Vegans!! The food was delicious! we had 4 different entrees, Kentucky fried mushroom, asada tacos, BBQ sandwich, and Burger. All vegan and all incredible. The atmosphere was second to none too! It was clean and comfortable. We felt safe inside of this place. Artwork drawn on napkins from previous customers, murals of animals, and art from local artists for sale on the walls. This is a place full of love, support, and delicious food. I am guaranteed to be coming back if I am ever in Mazatlan again. Thank you, La Ruta Vegana for being a safe haven for us and for the animals.

Amazing experience at Ruta Vegana. As a vegan, it’s hard to find dining options when traveling, especially in México so I often have to be vegetarian. We arrived 20 minutes before closing and Cristian + Chef went out of their way to make our NYE dinner extra special. They stayed open after closing to ensure we had our meal. The nachos, the tacos de asada, aguas frescas were divine. La Ruta was the first vegan Mexican restaurant in Mazatlán 10 years ago. Queer friendly establishment, which was a plus for us as a Queer couple! A must try, and ask for Cristian!

Went there once and had the pizza and the nachos and tacos. All the food was lacking. The pizza was just barely cooked, and I had ordered sausage on it but what I got was vegan hot dog slices, GROSS! The nachos were lacking any kind of sauces or anything, they were just a mess of chips and fake cheese and meat. No salsa, guacamole or hot sauce or anything. And the tacos were good but could have used something more than just the fake meat. I was the only one there for dinner service that night, and the reason this restaurant had no customers should have been clear to me.

However, in poor judgement since it is the only vegan restaurant in downtown I tried going back again to give it another try 3 times. But every other time that I went the place was closed. The place is not open for all of lunch or dinner service. Even if they say online they are open, they would be closed when I got there. I finally gave up trying when the third time I made sure they were open, and then went in to find that the dining room was open, but they told me that the kitchen was closed and they turned me away again! At 7:30 in the evening and they had closed the kitchen and turned me away! Absolutely Unbelievable.

Never in my life have I ever encountered such a lackluster restaurant. They obviously don't care at all about their customers. Which is why they don't have any. And I recommend not trying to become one, unless you enjoy having your business turned away while you are hungry. Or by some slim chance that they decide to be open and serve you, getting served very lackluster food. This restaurant has a monopoly on vegan dining in downtown, which has led them to completely take what business they do get for granted. There is such a lack of service in this restaurant, and the quality of food if you are able to even get it is also lacking. So what is the point in going to...
