We tried Los Arcos upon recommendation from our AirBnB host. We walked 2.25 miles to get there. This is our first visit to Mazatlan and we wanted to walk and not take a pulmonia.
Was not busy at all on Thursday at about 1:00 PM. As we were walking by to enter, we heard another couple not dining there that Los Arcos seafood is "the best." Not a lot of English spoken but that is fine because we are in Mexico and it isn't expected. Gave me a chance to use my poor but improving Spanish.
Service was extremely attentive and friendly. They immediately brought tostada shells (wrapped) and different salsas with grilled/friend onions which was a great touch. They also had bottled water available.
I had two blended strawberry margaritas and my wife had a regular margarita. Both varieties are VERY good. One note about the strawberry ... my napkin, shorts and side of the table looked a bit like a murder scene due to all the red strawberry juice but that was my fault. You may want an extra napkin or two but they were so good.
I had the Tacos Gobernador and my wife had ceviche tostada and we shared an order of the "Premium Fish Scallops." Everything was amazing, fresh and we can't wait to go back. Portions were large and the portion of scallops was large and came circled by thinly sliced cucumber along with a relish. They also brought more tostada shells. I enjoyed the scallops wrapped in the cucumber best. The fish is VERY fresh. My wife has high fish standards and couldn't stop talking about our lunch.
Price was very reasonable for the quality and amount of food. About $55 USD before tip and that included the three drinks.
Can't say enough good things about Los Arcos food and their staff. Muy bueno! We can't...
Read moreMy wife and I were in town for a meeting over my birthday and decided to come here for dinner. From the beginning things were going downhill. It was just two of us, surrounded by larger tables and the lack of effective communication between staff resulted in our requests or orders getting lost. The table behind us was very "naco", FaceTime'd for 20+ minutes, raunchy, and finally we asked the waiter if they could respect everyone else's presence and he felt embarrassed but yet hesitant to say anything to the 3 women which eventually left. Observing the other tables, they typically received a few salsa's with various crackers. Unfortunately, it took about 25+ mins of us asking and the staff realizing they were delivering our items to the other larger tables around us (including our drinks). The main course wasn't horrible, but by this point we're waiting an hour for food and drinks. My wife jokingly asked if I wanted cake or dessert and I obviously responded no. I think dinner was around $1600 pesos, I really don't like wasting money and for this birthday dinner, it was definitely wasted...
Read moreUnfortunately, I visited on a Tuesday when the normal chef wasn't working. I ordered the clam chowder, the ceviche with the pulpo & the langostines. Every plate was grossly underseasoned. By the langostines, I had enough & actually asked them to redo it. They sent out the same langostines with hot butter on them, maybe a bit of salt, but still underseasoned. It's really ashamed, as this is arguably the top rated seafood restaurant in Mazatlan. I expected so much more from them. The quality & feeshness of the seafood was definitely there, jusy prepared poorly.
Juan, my mesero, was great, very personable, and attentive. I would recommend him without hesitation.
Of the white wines, the Chardonnay is the cleaner choice & by chance, slightly cheaper. The Savy B was good too, just had a bit of funk to it, which I don't mind, but others could find as a turn off.
The tres leches cake was ok, but I've had much better.
Overall, it's a 3 from me & I won't be back. It's really...
