What a terrible let down for our last night in Mazatlán.
Food: The food was really quite bad. I paid the most I've paid for food the entire trip, so I struggled through it. I had the Mahi Mahi, catch of the day, and it tasted and looked like one of those little 4oz freezer packages of salmon you get from Costco, but that had been in the freezer too long. My vegetables were cooked incorrectly and flavorless as well. The best part of my meal was my plain white rice with salt and pepper on it. Coming from a fantastic hole in the wall down in Centro/old town the night before, and having ordered the same thing and thoroughly enjoyed it, I am really disappointed this was our final dinner.
Experience: Our first waiter was very short with us, mostly because we didn't speak Spanish I am guessing. Should I know more Spanish, especially going to mexico? Yes. But being in the heart of the tourist Golden zone, you'd just expect your touches would be friendly and cordial, regardless of your Spanish. There is a general disdain for Americans that cannot speak Spanish. (a small set of people can speak good English, but generally not). Well, either he got frustrated with us, or a shift change occurred, but our second waiter was extremely nice. I struggled through my Spanish as best I could, and he was actually pretty good with English. Very polite. Our table didn't have napkins, we tried to politely wait for our waiter, but eventually just had to get up and take some off an adjacent table.
Atmosphere: This is a very nice restaurant on the beach. They have outdoor seating, but the bandas are playing right in the sand during dinner, so if you like the banda music, you can sit outside. I will say, it did make conversation at the table near impossible. (The singer of this banda was quite good, but the trumpets are ear piercingly loud :) )
I am giving an overall 1 star, because I felt like the staff just generally didn't want us here. When your on vacation, you have but few nights to enjoy the food offerings, and it is disheartening when your A. Disappointed with your food, and B. Disappointed with the way you feel about being at...
Read moreThe service was decent. The hostess didn’t speak English at all and sat us at a table that has not been cleaned therefore it was missing several table settings and napkins as well as a cleaned table cloth. Face mask were required to enter but NO one besides the staff that had them one inside the building. The food was terrible, not visually appealing, not seasoned. The chicken nuggets that were ordered for the kids were cold with a freezer burn aftertaste. The drinks were not good either. Do not recommend dining here. Walk down the street in either direction for great food at a more...
Read moreWe came here for a late dinner after check in. The service was fabulous! They let us use a big table upstairs even though we were only 3 as my mother has a hard time with stairs. We each had a bowl of chicken soup which was loaded with chicken and rice. The tomatoes, cilantro and jalapeños on the side was nice to have as then we could make it as spicy as we wanted. We also got bottled water and a glass of milk. With tip the meal cost $550.00 pesos with the tip which is about...
