I am glad that we did not read the reviews before coming here. We came in for lunch after enjoying the Gruta. The staff did seem to be taking it easy, there was only one other table in the place. As mentioned in the reviews, most of the restaurants have similar menus. This one had a couple of additional items that we did not see in other restaurants. We decided to come back for dinner to try some other items that caught our eye. The prices are extremely reasonable for the portions that they serve. For lunch we had the menu del dia which was Chicharron guisado with nopales, and healthy portions of black beans and rice. All of that for only $40 pesos, about $4 bucks. We also ordered the cecina adobada which came with some delicious green enchiladas. For dinner we had the bistec argentino and the costillas. All of these dishes were big portions and came with corn tortillas. There are other options to eat at, mostly snack shops where you can get burgers, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and Maruchan cup of noodles, which are very popular here. These are very inexpensive options, might be why some.of the reviews mentioned high prices. Regardless, the menu offers good options to munch after enjoying your time in the sun. Keep in mind that the reason you come here is to enjoy the beautiful scenery and nature of Tolantongo, restaurants are just...

First, this was not a place we chose. It was where our tour guide took us… The food honestly wasn’t that great. However the most egregious was the service. One of the girls in the group ordered a meal and it came in two options, one for one person and one for three. Our tour guide who speaks Spanish ordered for us and even pointed to the dish, however the waitress claimed she didn’t hear the correct order and charged the girl for the three-person meal. We stayed an extra 20 mins in the restaurant trying to get the issue resolved but not only did they not own up to their mistake they made the tour guide cry!!! Imagine that! This girls brings groups of people to your restaurant nearly every day and that’s how you treat her?! Trash. I have no plans of ever going back here and if I go back to the hot springs there are plenty of other choices whose food smelled much better. Also, i have a suspicion they price gauge bc they have taped over prices...

We had to camp here for over 3 hours because the hotel did not had any rooms ready at the time and we had nowhere to go, but luckly the waiter was nice enough to try to make us leave only once
