I wish that I could give this place more than 5*. It was perfection. We came here under the impression that there was vegan ceviche, there isn't but the staff pointed out some other vegetarian items on the menu and we decided to give it a go and I'm so glad that we did. Firstly, the staff were so attentive to us. They had already communicated our dietary needs and our waiter, Fernando, was excellent. Kind, funny, polite, just everything that you'd want. He knew the menu incredibly well and went out of his way to show us the wines. The food was outstanding. Vegetarian food done both right and well. When we had our tostada, we were both in our own worlds and it was an intense, amazing experience. Everything that food should be. Finally, the drinks. The wine was very good and different from wine that we'd had before (coming from Europe, we don't get many Mexican wines). I love that they had a selection of national wines too. The cocktails were also excellent. Finally, the decoration and the atmosphere. There is a beautiful mural to Tabasco which is made by hand. The atmosphere was good too and the toilets were spotless. This restaurant should be the pride of the city if not the state. We paid quite a lot by local standards but you can't put a price of a dining...
Read moreI was lucky enough to eat there within two days of my arrival in Villahermosa, which allowed me to go back two more times during my short stay: the food is just that awesome. I was there with my mom, and I can say that we loved every single dish we had the chance to eat/taste. The first time, we went with some friends, which meant we were able to order several dishes, including the famous pejelagarto (a generous portion) and words fail me to describe how tasty everything was. You can't go wrong with any of the ceviches, but I confess that the Gordia de plátano macho (plantain gordita) will always have a special place in my heart. As for the drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are available, and they are excellent. Each visit, I made sure to order the refreshing agua de matalí. Do yourself a favor: if you're anywhere near La Cevichería Tabasco, make sure to stop by for a delicious meal. The sauces that accompany the meal and Chef Lupita's book, Agua y Humo, are available for purchase at the restaurant. The book's photography...
Read moreWow! What a great experience! The cocktails are fabulous! We started with the mezcalita de tamarindo. The food was delicious and generous! The salsas were unique and exquisite. The complimentary shrimp consomé was also delicious! Then we had the fiesta tacos that were accompanied by a delicious special salsa and another beef consomé. We had the smoked cauliflower that was delicious, maybe a bit too saucy but the flavor was great and way too generous. We will have to come back and order other items in the menu. As dessert we shared another cocktail that was made with espresso and posole, a delicious corn based drink. It led for them to lead us through a wonderful journey of tasting the posole. The service by Anabel and Obed was special and of course the captain, Leydi came and made us feel all that more welcome and explaining the uniqueness of Tabascan cuisine. We only wish we can stay longer and eat...
