Ajisen Ramen Mongolia — Restaurant in Ulaanbaatar

If I could give it negative stars I would. Waited for over 30 minutes after ordering, still didn't get my food. A waitress suddenly came and asked if I ordered the tonkatsu set? I said no, the half set. She said ok and left. (Presumably they had forgotten my order). Then I waited for over 20 minutes again. Asked another waiter who came back 15 minutes later saying the kitchen is busy and my order would take even longer. Couldn't wait any longer because I had a prior commitment afterwards. So I told the waiter to cancel my order as I couldn't wait any longer. When I went over to the counter to get my refund, the people at the cash register/counter made me wait after multiple people who were coming to pay or get their receipts. I had already paid mine through qpay so I just wanted a refund. However despite TWO people working the register they kept making me wait as more people would come AFTER me to pay. And told me "we are busy right now so wait". ???????? I had already waiter well over an hour for NOTHING and I had to wait more. Finally I was the only person left at the counter and I waited more as the employee attempted a refund. In the end she told me it is not possible for me to get a refund as I paid through a qr code and told me to wait for my order to finally come out. Even though I was extremely frustrated I remained calm and polite throughout every interaction as I prefer to be kind to staff. I ended up just saying I cannot wait any longer and leaving. However I will not be returning here ever again. Service so horrid it's embarrassing. Wonder how employee training is done here? And the fact that payments through qr code cannot be refunded is ridiculous and sad considering how slow the kitchen was and how confused the waiters seemed to be. Would at least expect the hostess to know what to do in situations like this but she seemed more clueless than...

Our go-to simple ramen spot in UB. It's the same Ajisen I know and love from Canada. Menus are regionalized here for this market, and recently we've noticed the inclusion of vegetarian ramen.

Staff are nice, and while there's often a language barrier, it's not insurmountable.

Kitchen has been consistent with both service time and quality of the food every time we've been here.

Terrible service. Made even worse by its new online ordering system. The staff don't check the orders on their screens leading to missed orders, the waiters seem to exist as reluctant delivery people who seem to unload the orders on the table, leaving the customers to sort out who ordered each arrival.
