Jang Su — Restaurant in Ulaanbaatar

The Korean menu at this place looks quite impressive, the bbq grills raise expectations, they are open till midnight and quite busy, but unfortunately what’s coming out of the kitchen is a failed imitation of Korean cuisine. Like in most of the countless Korean restaurants in UB the chef is not Korean, so the food, while still OK, is clearly “mongolized” for local tastes. IMHO, of the 4 dishes we sampled none deserved a rating of more than 5 out of 10 in as far as authenticity is concerned. They installed a single kiosk that requires you to input your order and even the table you sit in. For a restaurant that’s this large and has a bunch of waiters, I think it’s insane that they force this inconvenience on their customers.
