I don't know where to start... Originally i already was decided where to eat, though the place was closed and decided to wander around, till I found this place having quite good reviews, which had me convinced.
Well, I stepped in an hour earlier than i wanted to eat, since I previously discovered a lovely dish and really was into eating it one more time. Since I couldn't find it on the menue, I asked the lovely staff if it would be possible to make, using translator she knew exactly what it was, I asked for the price of "my extra" and I agreed.
One hour later I seated myself, ordered as agreed earlier. She suggested with fries (pommes frites; which I just cannot stand since my entire life) , I asked if vegetables would be possible, she replied potatoes. Ok, well it's a compromise and agreed. Plus, I ordered a beef soup upfront as entry. When ordering she made clear, there's only chicken soup (which also I couldn't find on the menue), but I agreed.
My drink was served promptly; beer was at a very good temperature (even though only bottle local beer, but hey, I ain't difficult). The soup also was served within 5-8 minutes, with bread (seems normal to me — actually). Three minutes later my main dish arrived.
First let me tell you, the chicken soup was brilliant, no excellent — I really enjoyed it and was so happy that at last instance I decided to actually order it—recommend! Though, the main arrived "too fast", after the soup. But not a problem, I will just combine both.
Unfortunately my main, was served with fries. And also the meat, wasn't as agreed. So i went down to the counter to tell about it (maybe things got mixed up).
Well, concerning the fries I got told it's potatoes. I made clear, these are french fries (pommes frites), yes they're potatoes but not at all like potatoes wedges. I googled quickly two pictures to show the difference. Nevermind, maybe it was the language barrier... I didn't want to argue about that. Though the actual meat, which we agreed upfront, with pictures wasn't at all what it was supposed to be. Therefore I was really disappointed and upset about it, especially because we talked about it before.
Well, since I ain't difficult, so I just took it. I have to point out, the waitress really was into making things alright and exerted things at it's best. I tried to tell her, it's not worth the argument and that it is okay.
Finally she offered me a beverage as a compensation for "messing" things up, which I actually asked for to not do. However she did. She really did her best, no question about that.
What I have to agree from previous reviews, is : THERE IS WAY TOO MUCH SALT in the preparation.
The place itself is really nice and remembers a little the ancient times. The decoration fits well and blends it very authentic. The staff is nice, though language barrier exist. Make yourself ready communicating using a translator. The service itself is kind and also, I asked for wifi which I was kindly offered to use.
Last, I have to mention that I am very conscious about waste of food, which I can't stand at all (however, that's a different story). The amount of salt was tremendous, plus the fries (which as said I can't stand, but that's a personal issue, reason why I asked for a "substitute")... usually, well if I don't finish a plate, I ask for a doggy bag, though this one really was not esculent in the meaning of enjoying what I eat and I wouldn't have like to try it anymore.
To finish : what happened, happened. It can happen anywhere. Though, what I really didn't appreciate, is being charge for the bread which I didn't order and which just all naturally was served with the soup. It's not a question of price, it's a question of values & principles. Staff could have either informed me or pointing it out. Though NOT this way. Absolute No-Go.
All in all, I gave it a try and though all precautions I got disappointed. Nevermind, for what went wrong. Due to my very own experience, I wouldn't return a second time.
Thank you for having me & for showing the kindness. Good luck...
Read moreFive of us just left the restaurant and are all so happy because this was such an unexpected but incredibile find. The highlight of our trip in Montenegro so far! We arrived at lunch time and were seated upstairs. It’s aesthetic, cosy and translates the feeling of being in a small Montenegrin city. The food was absolutely delicious. We started with a soup and home made bread (a really big serving but super light and fluffy). We then shared the slow cooked beef, potatoes, buttery carrots, cabbage and the plate of prosciutto and home made cheese. I literally can’t fault it because everything was delicious and sizeable portions. We also shared the homemade wine (and bought a bottle to take home because it was so yummy). The waitress was so kind and explained the different foods and also all the different functions of the coffee grinders around the place. Language wasn’t a problem because she somehow managed to explain everything even though she didn’t speak English and we didn’t speak Montenegrin. Overall, all five of us are super impressed and would 1000% recommend anybody passing by to stop in and have a meal. 💗💗💗 thank you all for such delicious food and such an awesome experience. If we are ever in Montenegro agree we will...
