Wow, wow, wow! You must come to this new restaurant! Beautiful location with stunning views. The waiters are amazing and the service is first class! The waiters are very knowledgeable, friendly and recommended some dishes. Fish soup and mussels as a starter. The mussels were super fresh and tasty. Soup was extremely flavoursome. The main courses were tuna steak and king prawn spaghetti - both cooked to perfection! The tuna steak was probably the best I've eaten and the spaghetti was divine! The waiter 'Mitch' recommended a lovely Sauvignon blanc to go with both courses. It was chilled and refreshing! Breads and a lovely cheese, olive and onion tapenade were complimentary while we waited for our starters. They just do one dessert - it did not disappoint. It was delicious - chocolate, cream and an egg white type meringue. We finished with coffee and a local plum brandy! The restaurant is very clean and the toilets are spotless. The restaurant is not on the main road and there were locals having what looked like celebratory meals. A taxi was organised for us to go back to Perast where we are staying! If you are staying in Kotor, Perast or nearby please do visit this place, you will not be...
Read moreThe fish was good, but nothing special. BUT, we got a very shocking dessert:
The waiter (balding, chubby, in his 50s) tried to kill this little kitten!
He chased the little kitten after it tirelessly kept coming back to the restaurant to beg for food. He grabbed the kitten, smiled, calmed it down, and took it behind the bushes near the water. I became suspicious and followed him secretely. He kept checking to see if anyone saw him and wrapped the cat in a cloth napkin.
He walked closer and closer to the water. At the last moment, before he was about to to throw the cat into the water to kill it by drowning, I yelled at him and confronted him.
At first he lied and tried to talk his way out of the situation, but then he said something disturbing in his broken english „Hmm you know too many cats here, hmm."
We immediately rushed to pay the bill and I confronted the boss and some of his colleagues. Of course, no one believed me.
We would never go to that restaurant again and really saw how psychopathic some people can be. I would never have believed that this man (who also served us and was very friendly) was capable of something so...
Read moreWe had dinner at Timun last week and it was a memorable experience. The restaurant is in a pleasant location, close to the sea but far from the tourist traps (and loud tourists) of Kotor itself. Beautifully decorated, both inside and outside. Excellent fresh fish caught by the restaurant's own fisherman, so it's really worth listening to the waiters' advice regarding what to order on the day. But to be fair, no matter what you order, it will be cooked and presented with love. Simple food but perfectly cooked and seasoned.
I agree with most other reviews about the service at Konoba Timun. In my experience, service in Montenegro is often either professional but dry, or welcoming but rough around the edges. But not here The waiters at Konoba Timun manage to be very professional, giving excellent advice on what to order and how to pair food with wine, while being extremely friendly. I really hope the restaurant manages to keep their waiting team together because it is a...
