• Food :
For my first visit m, I have ordered an interesting selection from the whole menu.
For STARTERS, We have ordered the famous samosa (4 pieces ) deliciously baked vary soft and tasty on the inside
We also order the chiken Tikka, very soft and spicy chiken
For the Main Courses We have ordered Kadhai Murphy, a saucy chiken and vegetable dish. Very spicy but yet deeeeeelicious.
Alongside it, we ordered a prawn and basmati rice dish with its little sauce called Prawn biryani
For the breads, It is a must to order the regular Naan (Indian bread) to go along with all the saucy dishes, and we also tried the Cheese NAAN with Indian cheese, a more fatty option but tasty and a little soggy compared to the original crunch.
Last but not least Deserts
We have ordered the gulab jamun with ice cream, great warm and cold combination
And the kulfi, an ice-cream popsicle. Don't know what's in it
I LOOVED THE FOOD, and I would recommend everything besides the kulfi my least favorite butb still yummy
• Service :
Very quick and clean with nice dressings
The Waiter dressed was very nice and friendly, recommend things on the menu as it was out first time. Thanks to him We weren't disappointed
Even during lunch prime time. There is always someone to pick your order
• Space :
The space is a little bit dark and closed, no windows. But cosy.
The indoors are decorated in way that reminds you of India but not so much.
Seatings are comfortable and wide enough for 4 people.
There is no outdoor space and it's not a smooker place
Suitable for a date or family guaterings or just a coffee with friends.
Large and comfortable seatings from 2 to even 4 people outdoors and indoors.
Located in very chic residential area next to Mahaj ryad in an alley, you'll need google maps the first time.
Free public parking if lucky.
Two seperate double WC for men and women, very clean.
• Price :
Price i would say a little higher than Average but totally fair for the quality of the food and the service ($$$)
Definitely will comeback and try more things...
Read moreTucked into Rabat’s bustling, Mahaj Hay Ryad area, Clay Oven offers a warm, authentic escape into Indian cuisine. The restaurant’s cozy, unpretentious ambiance think earthy tones, soft lighting, and traditional decor sets the stage for a relaxed meal. Service is welcoming and attentive, with staff happy to guide diners through the menu or adjust spice levels to preference.
The food is the star here. Starters like samosa (crispy pastries topped with tangy chutneys and yogurt) and paneer tikka (grilled cottage cheese marinated in spices) are flavorful and fresh. Mains showcase robust, aromatic curries. The butter chicken is a crowd-pleaser, rich and creamy without overwhelming the palate, while the lamb rogan josh (tender meat in a fragrant tomato-based gravy) highlights the kitchen’s skill with spices. Vegetarian options shine too, particularly the dal makhani (slow-cooked lentils) and aloo gobi (spiced cauliflower and potatoes).
Don’t skip the breads: the garlic naan is pillowy and charred to perfection in the namesake clay oven. Portions are generous, though prices lean slightly higher than average for Rabat (mains from 90-150 MAD). The mango lassi provides a refreshing counterpoint to bold flavors, and the gulab jamun (syrup-soaked dough balls) offers a sweet finish.
While the space is small and can get busy on weekends, the overall experience feels genuine and satisfying. Clay Oven stands out in Rabat’s modest Indian food scene for its consistency, quality, and homestyle warmth. A solid choice for craving-driven nights or introducing friends to...
Read moreWe came here for dinner with a group of friends. We were seated quickly and the service began immediately. The menu is nice with a generous variety of traditional and more modern indian cuisine. The prices are moderate for what you get. Remember: this is not a snack but a proper dine-in restaurant. We enjoyed the food & the atmosphere. The food was presented nicely in a generous portions and very delicious! The staff was very professionell and kind. Therefore we really can't say anything bad about the service! We were served by Anas who answered all our questions about the different foods and had a great knowledge about the indian cuisine. Before handing out recommendations, he asked us about our preferences and then continued giving us food recommendations. That was great! We could tell that he was continously having an eye on our table as we didn't run out of drinks or anything like that. He cared about us being happy customers and we felt very well treated. Well done! We also got to meet the manager who is indian himself. He convinced us to stay for dessert which didn't disappoint at all! And he took his time to check in with us and other tables, eventhough it was quiet a busy evening. We really appreciated that! He had a constant overview of the dining area and would place gis staff according to his customers needs. We will...
