I want to preface this by saying I generally never leave negative reviews for any establishment regardless of service because I like to give people and places the benefit of the doubt, however, my experience at this particular Arabica location was so disappointing and disrespectful that it warrants being shared and hope this message gets to the right person at Arabica. As someone who has visited Arabica cafes worldwide— Brooklyn, Midtown, Singapore, Riyadh, Paris, Doha, and even Marrakech—I’ve come to associate the Arabica brand with exceptional hospitality and service. Unfortunately, this branch completely undermines that reputation.
What I experienced here in the recent months can only be described as classist and shameful. The staff blatantly treat locals, particularly those speaking Darija, as inferior compared to tourists or those who appear more affluent or speak in English or French. This behavior is unacceptable, especially when directed at the very people from their own country.
I live between Casablanca and NYC, so I frequent this cafe regularly as I live close by. I began to notice a stark difference in service when I switched from speaking English to Darija. The treatment became dismissive, careless, and, at times, outright disrespectful—particularly when the supervisor was not present.
One glaring incident involved waiting nearly 45 minutes for an order while others who ordered annd arrived after me were served promptly. After repeatedly asking about our order, the staff casually left it on the counter without notifying us, unlike other customers whose orders were personally brought to their tables. I observed in this very experience that many of the patrons who ordered after me were speaking in French, English or clearly tourists. Despite this clear disparity, I brushed it off as a busy evening in an effort to give the workers the benefit of the doubt. However, a very similar experience unfolded about two weeks later. After ordering my coffee, I watched as tourists and other customers were served immediately while my order was ignored. When I finally approached the staff, I was met with dismissive and condescending behavior. The server outright cut me off, spoke to me over her shoulder dismissively and sharply told me she was going to make my drink. I responded by letting her know I’ve waited nearly 30 minutes and was now leaving so don’t bother. I received no apology, refund, or acknowledgment aside from a smirk and met with laughter, whispering, pointing and glares from the two servers as I walked out.
This treatment is not only unprofessional but deeply disrespectful. I have never been treated like this as a patron in my life and this was never my experience when I spoke in English. To see such behavior at a brand known for its global hospitality is appalling and disappointing. Discrimination against locals, especially in such a blatant manner, needs to be called out. It’s shameful and tarnishes the reputation of...
Read moreI’m absolutely disappointed!!!! I ordered a medium caffe latte, the male service guy (is on the picture I uploaded) tells me there are only large cups available. I tell him it’s fine, just put the amount of the medium in the large cup. He agrees and does exactly that. When I wanted to pay he is charging me the price for a large cup. I’m confused and ask him why this price. He tells me that it’s because he is using the large cup. I’m still confused as we just discussed that he will put the medium amount in the large cup. When I started to argue with him and reminding him what we just discussed, he changed the price to the medium cup.
This action does not accidentally!! It happens on purpose!! He tried to charge me the bigger amount on purpose! And I’m sure these guys are hiding the medium size amount! This is a big scam and I need to warn future potential customers. I used to enjoy going to Arabica and have a nice coffee. But his experience really impacted my view on this!! I’m asking the franchise owner please to review this and do something before the reputation...
Read moreBefore even stepping inside, %Arabica Casablanca immediately catches the eye — the place is beautifully designed and inviting. Once inside, though, I was a bit surprised to see that the coffee machines and some areas behind the counter could use a better cleaning. Having visited %Arabica in Japan, where everything is spotless, the contrast was noticeable.
We ordered our usual drinks, and while the quality wasn’t quite on the same level as Japan, it was still good and enjoyable. At first, the staff member who took our order didn’t seem in the best mood, but the rest of the team quickly made up for it — everyone was kind, welcoming, and made us feel comfortable. The terrace staff were also very friendly and attentive.
One more thing worth noting — the restrooms could use a bit more attention.
Overall, despite a few details that could be improved, the experience was pleasant. We’ve missed %Arabica, and it still has that unique charm that...
