While staying in Zagora, in the far south of Morocco, I discovered the pleasant Café Restaurant Essaada on Boulevard Mohammed V.
The first time I went there, I noticed it had half a dozen people sitting at outside tables having tea, coffee, or food. I had two hours to wait for the nearby Supratours office to open, so I drank two tea pots of verveine.
The following day, my brother and I took a petit taxi from our hotel to eat at Café Restaurant Essaada. We looked at the menu and decided to order two chicken sandwiches on a baguette, and I emphasized that our pommes frites should be hot and extra crispy. I ordered a Sprite, and my brother had a small bottle of Sidi Ali mineral water. It took 15 minutes, but when the waiter brought the sandwiches and frites to our table, along with some salt, ketchup and mayonnaise, I was impressed with the fries as they were not oily and were crispy. The sandwiches were wrapped in aluminum foil and were grilled chicken pieces with a little lettuce and tomato.
