I was invited to dinner at L'Opera in February 2013. Keen to look through the restaurant and garden, I arrived early. The staff greeted me warmly, and despite a little confusion over my friend's reservation details, the staff were nonetheless happy for me to look around. They even arranged for the chef Fabrizio to come out and say hello and see if everything was all right. Nice touch. The highlight was being seated in the garden at night over looking the water. The starter dishes were mouth watering and the mains equally as delightful. The issue over chilling red wine however, can be a point of controversy with customers in any Myanmar restaurant, so I suggest if you BYO red wine and don't want it chilled, to be specific with your request. Equally when ordering red wine, be clear if you want it room temperature or not. The restaurant host Lisa is also most gracious and willing to spend time with guests, and is always diplomatic knowing when to disengage to allow you to enjoy your meal and table conversation. If you get the chance take a look at the stunningly decorated upstairs rooms. Much time and effort has gone into making these unique spaces. Enjoy L'Opera I highly...
Read moreThank you L’Opera for another wonderful meal, you never disappoint. I recently had the pleasure of indulging in a chef’s special: tender duck breasts with a light tangy sauce, crunchy vegetables and buttery potatoes. I thoroughly enjoyed this culinary delight! The duck breasts were cooked to perfection, succulent and tender. The accompanying sauce was a great match. It had just the right amount of tanginess to complement the richness of the duck without overpowering it. The lightly cooked vegetables completed this dish, contrasting the duck with its delightful crunch and freshness. Last but not least, the potatoes were perfectly seasoned with a sweet buttery taste. All flavours and textures in this dish work harmoniously together. Thank...
Read moreWe celebrated a special occasion here due to the extensive vegetarian menu, and the place didn’t disappoint. It was warm, cozy, and homely.
The mushroom ravioli, filled with spinach, was rich and made with love. The beef lasagna was cheesy and filling, though dishes contained fewer spices to our palate.
The choco lava cake with in-house vanilla ice cream was exactly what I craved on my birthday. The crème brûlée, with melted sugar on top, wasn’t up to the mark, thankfully I didn't have to eat it.
Overall, it’s a gorgeous place with friendly staff, a welcoming ambiance, and a bit on the expensive side, but it made for a special...
