The café’s atmosphere is truly enchanting, especially during the Christmas season. The festive decorations and open fire create a warm and cozy ambiance that immediately draws you in. It’s the kind of place where you’d expect to enjoy a memorable meal with loved ones.

Unfortunately, the dining experience did not match the charm of the surroundings. While my French onion soup was served quickly, it lacked broth entirely, resembling caramelized onions with cheese rather than a proper soup. The mushroom risotto was disappointing as well — dry rice with a single mushroom, raw green onions, and none of the creaminess or richness you’d expect.

The burger had a flavorful patty but was served rare, despite being ordered well-done for kids. The fries were overcooked and inedible. The only highlight was my husband’s ribs, which were tender, flavorful, and paired with fresh bread.

The service added to the frustration. While the server was polite, she seemed unprepared and unfamiliar with the menu, struggling to explain the specials.

We ordered our first dinner out of Colijn last night, mostly to support local restaurants in our neighborhood during the lockdown. So our expectations were not too high but we were in for a big treat. We ordered the steak and the burger and the quality was top notch and the portion size was really big. Definitely worth from any aspect. We will definitely order more from Colijn. They delivered the food in an amazing packaging too. In a thermally insulated box which they collected the next day. The gentleman who collected the box asked me something which with my broken dutch thought at the time was whether the food was cold when arrived but on second thought I think he asked if the food was warm enough. So in case he is reading this, apologies for my broken Dutch and the food was in excellent temperature and excellent quality. Thank you! And...

The food is beyond amazing! We love the ribs and burger. We always did takeout but thought it’d be nice to eat at the restaurant for a change. The food was great as always, but the service was a bit odd. I thought I’d get hot chocolate because it came with whip cream, which is how I like it. However, when it came to the table, there wasn’t any whip cream. I asked the waitress, who said they ran out and the chef was on his break so he couldn’t make any. Well, why didn’t you come to me and ask if I still wanted it without whip cream??! Because I didn’t. And in general, throughout our time there, the service was awkward with this woman. I would keep doing takeout but they’re no longer providing delivery on Thuisbezorgd. Pity because I did enjoy the food from this place, but don’t want awkward...
