I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at [cedra libanees restaurant ], and I must say, it was hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had. From start to finish, this restaurant managed to disappoint in every possible way.
First and foremost, let's talk about the exorbitant prices. I knew it was going to be pricey based on their reputation, but I never imagined they would charge such outrageous amounts for mediocre food. The prices were so high that I had to double-check the menu to make sure I wasn't dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant, which this place is clearly not deserving of.
Now, onto the food itself - an absolute travesty! I ordered what was supposed to be their "signature dish," hoping it would justify the exorbitant cost. But to my dismay, it was nothing more than an overcooked, tasteless mess on a plate. The presentation was lackluster, resembling something hastily thrown together by an inexperienced cook rather than a culinary masterpiece.
The flavors were completely underwhelming, and I could barely distinguish one dish from another. It felt like they were trying to mask the subpar quality with an excessive use of salt and heavy sauces. In the end, it just left my taste buds confused and unsatisfied.
To add insult to injury, the service was equally abysmal. The waitstaff seemed disinterested, and it took an eternity for them to bring out our food. It's almost as if they wanted us to dwell on the astronomical prices we were about to pay for the impending disappointment.
The ambiance was also far from impressive. The decor was outdated, and the lighting was too dim to even appreciate the lackluster presentation of the dishes. It felt more like a dated, dingy cafeteria rather than a fine dining establishment.
Overall, my experience at was an utter disaster, and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Save your hard-earned money and find a restaurant that actually cares about providing a satisfying dining experience. This place is nothing more than an overpriced tourist trap that preys on unsuspecting patrons looking for a memorable culinary adventure....
Read moreGreat food, well presented. Friendly warm staff too. But we ordered and then were served with two dishes we did not order. The waiter rushed away and we did not know what the dishes were. We asked what they were and if they were the ones we ordered and the waiter did not know and went to find out. Came back but still did not know what the dishes were. Then another waiter tried to find out for us. But did not know what they were either. Both waiters apologised for not knowing what the dished were, and explained that they were new and did not know the menu. So we started eating these dishes assuming by looking at them that they might be ours, though I could see one of them was not! Then...and get this... another waiter tried to serve us with another two completely different dishes, this time we could tell because one of them was a whole fish and we knew we had not ordered that. But it took a bit of telling the waiter is was not ours. He looked confused and unsure, but we were now emboldened enough to insist they were not ours, so he took them away and gave them to the people on next table to us. Fawlty Towers? Absolutely. But everyone very friendly. Just ignorant of what we ordered, and which tables and diners the dishes should go to. Perhaps they could train the wait staff? Perhaps a table numbering system? For the staff? So what next? Nothing. Our ordered dishes finally arrived!! The food was brilliant. Taste and quality very high. Presentation excellent. And we were not charged for the two earlier dishes we did not order but in our ignorance started to eat thinking they might be ours! We will go back if we are in Amsterdam again. They were lovely and warm to us, and completely apologetic for the food delivery mistakes. So all is forgiven. Try them. It is fun if nothing else. Oh...and the location right on the canal...
Read moreWe discovered this place 7 years ago upon advice from our Egyptian friends. Back then the place was a total marvel: delicious food, exceptional Mediterranean service and great middle eastern atmosphere. Now, looking back we realized that what made a huge difference for us was the level of service. Back then the restaurant had an amazing hospitable manager from Lebanon who treated every client as special.. under his management the place seemed special. And so was the food. Yesterday we returned to the restaurant and it was a total disappointment. A vivid example of how the change of management affects the level of service of a restaurant. Our favorite manager has long been gone. The team is now totally new. The new manager is extremely unpleasant and seems to be annoyed by visitors and their additional requestes more than we were annoyed by him. The service is extremely slow, the waiters close to being rude ..food was ok but something was missing, if you compare it to the former times..looking at the price tag of the dishes, we realize now that it is totally not worth it.. We will definitely not...
