Golden Garden Dim Sum Restaurant 今聚缘 — Restaurant in Amsterdam

WORST EXPERIENCE OF ANY RESTAURANT. Where to begin....Well me and my brother recently used this establishment on our trip to Amsterdam. We stayed in a local 4* hotel so i always try to make a point of visiting local business's to really get a feel of the place outside of the usual tourist eating spots and hotels. The Very little English here wasn't or never has been a problem the main issue was as soon as we arrived we got a feeling that we had done something wrong & wasn't welcome.! We was sort of seated in a sense the women just waved us towards the tables. From then on things only got worse as the what i believe to be the manager/owner was walking up and down starring at us like a bouncer at a night club. (Not relaxing in the slightest) soon as we ordered he disappeared into the kitchen area to then re appear to stare at us from another location..! the only upside to all was the food arrived in minutes (Nothing special as my local take away puts this place to shame to be completely honest) He then proceeds to talk to our waiter which was clearly about us (as they kept looking over) i got from the hand gestures & body language he was telling him he should of turned us away..!! At this stage i am completely baffled to why they did not want our money.? we would of happily sat there and had a few drinks (it was the plan) but with the hostile reception we was receiving we just finished the food and left faster than we arrived.! There was NO up selling which i have NEVER seen in ANY restaurant i have ever visited (another clear indicator that we was not welcome) The restaurant was not full either it was a Sunday night so i put it down to our faces did not fit.. My advice if you're a tourist AVOID THIS PLACE .... SERIOUSLY ... we are planning on using the same hotel on our next trip out but honestly we will be avoiding this place completely i'd rather just eat at mcdonalds than pay 50euros to be made to feel so uncomfortable while eating...

This might be the first time I'm giving a 2 star review on a restaurant...

TLDR: owner was extremely rude, called us poor and insecure.

The food was ok, but the service was terrible! before we had a chance to take a good look at the menu, an old waitress came by and asked if we wanted water. Since we're travelling here from another country, we assumed the water would be free tap water, but the waitress came back with a 750 ml bottle of water and at this stage I knew we had to pay for it. That itself is ok, but what I'm not ok with is this bottle of water was 6.80€ (there are many cheaper options on the menu, and this was NOT a high end water brand) and the terrible attitude of the owner! I felt like the old waitress did not really explain the different waters on the menu and just conned us into ordering the most expensive one.

Later when we mentioned this to the owner, she was very rude and disrespectful, basically called us poor and said we need to eat out more. From the owner's attitude I can see why the old waitress was also rude, as the owner is enabling this kind of behaviour. However the other waitresses seemed to be nice.

Overall, the food was fine but if you value good service, I would not recommend...

We ate as a group of friends arriving at 9pm. We were told that the restaurant would be closing at 10pm. We quickly made our choices and the food arrived piping hot. Chicken and fresh vegetables with noodles and rice. Delicious! After a long day we ate the food promptly. The bill was paid whilst tables were being cleared around us. We didn't feel too rushed but were aware that they would be closing at 10pm. The next day after dining out at a different restaurant we realised that the cost of the previous evenings meal was expensive we checked the receipt and realised that we had been charged twice for our meal! The next evening we headed back to see if we could get a refund on the overcharging. We anticipated a challenge due to language barrier but needn't have worried as the Manager there fully acknowledged the overcharging and promptly refunded us. He was profusely sorry. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again when...
