I came here with a group of five people on a Saturday evening, and the restaurant was about 3/4 full, which is a good sign. We received the menus and the waiter very helpful in describing the dishes and was overall quite cordial. We got our drinks (I ordered the mango lassi which was really good), and the starters that some of us had ordered. So far so good. We finished those starters, and then the wait begun. We sat really close to the kitchen, so we could see waiters passing by our table bringing food to other customers, thus increasing our own appetites. However, our main courses did not arrive. At some point, a person (who I presume was) the manager drew attention to his other waiters that our table is still empty. I believe he did it twice or so. So they seemed to be aware as well, but the food still was not there. In fact, they did not arrive for about 1.5 hours and we had to ask the waiters if our food was coming. I understand that we came during one of the busiest times of the week, but around us there were customers who came after us, but also left before we even got our food. In the end, we received our main courses, and the presentation was really nice and the wait made us hungrier, so you would think that the food became tastier. However, I have to admit, the food was only decent. I am by no means an expert on indian cuisine, but I've tried it many times in different places and I had better, more flavourful, and spicier indian dishes, for a lower price and a shorter wait time. One of us ordered the chicken madras, and it has two peppers according to the menu, but I could eat it despite having quite a low tolerance to spice. I could also get more meat per dish elsewhere. The naan was good, but that's not what I come for to an Indian restaurant. I have to be honest and say that I expected more from a restaurant with such...

The second I entered, the staff was welcoming and super friendly. When ordering, I decided to go for the mango lassi for drinks, the papri bites and alu tikki for starters, and the butter chicken with a side of garlic nan as a main course. Before my ordered starters, I got a complementary starter with different spicy to sweet sauces and a side of “crackers”. After this, I was surprised by the deliciousness of the starters, particularly of the papri bites (would strongly recommend!). The butter chicken was also quite good as the chicken was soft and juicy, the sauce was savory, and it came with some rice which was perfectly made and complemented the dish quite nicely. The side of nan elevated the dish even more in my opinion. Finally, the mango lassi was one of the best ones I have tried in my lifetime so I would strongly recommend to consider ordering it.
Overall, I had a great experience with the staff, the food was quite savory, and I can’t wait to go back and try more off the quite varied menu. As for the prices, the main dishes are a bit on the expensive side, however they are worth it as you do get a lot of food and it’s quite high quality. I might dare to say that this place became one of my favorite places...
Read moreAs a connoisseur of Indian food I highly recommend this restaurant! I have tried multiple Indian restaurants in Amsterdam and was very dissatisfied with the bulk of Indian restaurants in this city. In my experience they just don't offer food with the same taste as you would get in India. This restaurant offers a big variety of dishes belonging to the north Indian cuisine. So it should cater to your whole family. I also went to this place with my family including 2 small children and I found it to be child friendly. Also hygienic as the toilets were very clean, and I felt this cleanliness also extends to the kitchen. But let's get back to the food. I enjoyed this food as a person of Indian origin. I noticed that a lot of the clients were Dutch too so I think they found a good balance to cater both groups. According to the waiter everything they serve is freshly made on the same day, and it certainly tasted that way. The waiting staff is also very friendly and patient (in case you forgot I came with small children). I found the price very good for what you get. Not just for the quantity of food, but the...
