Loetje restaurant is a must-visit spot for those seeking a combination of great atmosphere, stunning views, and excellent food. The restaurant is located on the northern banks of the IJ river, offering diners a breathtaking view of Amsterdam and surrounding area. The interior is stylishly decorated with a warm and welcoming ambiance, making it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner, special occasion or night out with friends.

Now, onto the food. Loetje's steak is simply divine, cooked to perfection and served with a delicious sauce. The menu also offers a variety of other dishes, including fish and vegetarian options, all of which are equally delicious. Portions are good, and the prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food.

The only downside to the experience was the service, which was good but a bit slow. This may be due to the current shortage of waiters, but it's worth noting that it didn't detract from the overall experience. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the food was definitely worth the wait.

In summary, if you're looking for a memorable dining experience in Amsterdam, Loetje is definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere and view alone are worth the trip, but it's the excellent food that will keep you coming back. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait for your food, but trust me, it's...

My family and I went to the Loetje at Central Station to have dinner. I was told that they don't serve dinner at the terrace today, but the manners of the employee talking to me were unacceptable. He said: "well yeah you can sit outside but you gotta wait long time since no one will serve you there". We left and decided to call the Loetje phone number to check if the terrace in the North location is open. I was told on the phone that it is not busy tonight, they serve dinner on the terrace so we should just come by and that they are waiting for us. When we arrived at the Loetje aan 't IJ and asked for the table outside, the hostess said: "Ooh we don't serve dinner outside today and our waiting list inside is 40 minutes". TERRIBLE SERVICE AND NO COMMUNICATION! My family and I were looking forward for that dinner, but we were treated poorly at both locations and were lied on the phone. We had to cross the whole Amsterdam and lost 2 hours just to be told again that the terrace is closed, while they assured me on the phone I can just come by. Zero hospitality at both locations. How is this even acceptable? If you want to lose your time and not get a table at the end then that's the right...

We arrived at 7:20 for our reservation, could already see it was very busy and hectic. Finally flagged down a waiter at 7:35 and gave our full order not just drinks as that seemed to be a strategic move. At 7:50 our drinks finally arrived. Time passes, we start wondering about the food. It's 8:00, 8:10... we flag the waiter down to ask if everything is ok. She says it's really busy and it will be out soon. At 8:30, then 8:40 and finally we're just getting worried our food is totally forgotten so we go up to the waiter inside and complain that 2 steaks and french fries shouldn't take over 1 hour. Our food finally arrives 1h15 min after ordered... wild! And the food is tasty but really not good enough to merit the crazy wait. It felt stressful to eat there because the waitstaff never comes by your table, you have to advocate for yourself and this just isn't the vibe you want when you're out to dinner. Such a shame cuz the location is amazing and if someone just organised the kitchen and waitstaff better, they wouldn't have to be so overrun and stressed. Also really wonder if we would have even gotten our food if we didn't go up and ask so many times. We were really about to just leave...

Loetje Amsterdam aan ‘t IJ. We went here twice this week. We were having lunch and diner. There was no need to make a reservation since the tables were rotating real quick. When we arrived we have got a table at the window for lunch and diner was in the middle. Food: We started with shrimp croquette, steak Bali Salad and the steak Bali. This restaurant is infamous for the steak with gravy, but the salad is also a 8/10. The steak Bali is 9/10 for sure! Service: There is a difference in service in lunch and diner, when you are eating at lunch there are possibly students or young ones that don’t have enough experience. I was wondering something with the dish but the answer remained. However at the diner there are real professionals at work. Quick, accurate and excited. So is the experience eating here. Atmosphere: This restaurant has one of the best views in Amsterdam when it comes to view at the water. The interior is quite cosy and made to have a quick meal and in mid range coming to price. Loetje aan ‘t IJ is definitely worth it to try out!

This is a beautiful restaurant located on the water, unfortunately the acoustics is not the best one and it sounds a bit noisy with a bit of soft ceiling covering they would probably reduce the issue Service is good. About the food: mmm. I visited several Loetjes in the past and it is still not convincing me. In a place where the king dish is meat, how is possible that they don't ask how the client prefer to have the meat cooked? The quality of the meat is definitely good but it is soaked in butter and cooked as the chef wants. Mine was for example too cooked according to my taste. Another thing is the bread. They don't serve decent bread. The one you can order is the classic white industrial bread for toast 🍞! Plain as when you take it out of the bag. Not even slightly toasted to make it a bit mor tadty. How is possible to serve such low quality bread with a steak? A simple baguette would make a perfect job. Desserts are yummy! Too bad because the place has potential that is not fully exploited

Oh, Loetje Aan 't IJ, you waterfront wonder! Nestled in Amsterdam-Noord, this steakhouse is a meat-lover’s pilgrimage with a view that’s practically a love letter to the IJ river. The star? Their legendary tenderloin steak, swimming in a sassy, foamy gravy that demands you mop it up with their soft white bread. It’s carnivore nirvana, though vegetarians won’t starve—there’s a plant-based “Steak 0.0” that’s no slouch. The vibe is lively, sometimes chaotic, with service that can feel like a Dutch soap opera: friendly but occasionally frazzled, so patience is key—bring a book or charm the host for quicker seating. The terrace is a summer must, but no reservations, so pounce early. Parking’s a headache for the mobility-challenged; consider the ferry for a scenic arrival. Pro tip: ask for the gravy on the side if sambal’s not your jam, and skip the pricey sides unless you’re sharing. Book ahead, arrive hungry, and savor the view—it’s Loetje’s secret sauce.
