As the hotel's somewhat distant from other establishments (it's on a commercial estate) so doesn't have any competition around, I'd guess most of the diners happen to be hotel guests rather than people that went out of their way to visit the place.
It's not got a huge selection on the menu but I didn't have difficulty selecting something during my stay there. I tried the Chicken with penne, quite filling, and the next day had the Toasted Chicken (chicken medallions on toast with cheese topping) which I felt needed some salad or sauce to offset it as it grew samey and boring as eating progressed.
At some point I developed a sore throat so stuck to soups: pomodori (tomato) and their potato soup, and as the waiters remembered me they also offered hot water with honey and lemon to soothe my throat. Once the symptoms had passed I enjoyed their ribs (quite a large amount of meat) and also the chicken satay.
Breakfast there was quite comprehensive - from hot meals to continental meats and cheeses plus fruit, etc - quite a buffet-style spread, and quite healthy.
I'd ventured out to a few other places midweek for a change of scene - the Cor & Don was a nice stroll out but I wasn't happy with the service, the closer Radion was good and a nice alternative. Nonetheless the variety and meal quality (plus service) was good enough to have me stay to eat for...
Read moreRude restaurant staff (one guy specifically). I was a guest at the Artemis Hotel (where the restaurant is located). It was my first day so I was tired after my journey and decided to order takeout, as the restaurant didn’t have any Asian cuisine and I didn’t feel like eating a burger / Italian food. I went to ask for a fork (which is usually provided with the order, but I guess not this time). The man told me rudely “You don’t want to eat at our restaurant and instead order food from somewhere else then you can’t have a fork from here”. I suggested that I can come downstairs myself and give it back straight away after I’m done, so that the cleaning staff doesn’t have to worry about it, but he still said no. He then told me I could buy their disposable cutlery (one fork & one knife) for 3€!!!! Ridiculous. Left a very bad impression of their problem solving skills as well as client relations. It was just a bad and unnecessary experience right at the beginning of my trip. Being kind goes a long way, I suggest to try it sometimes, maybe then you would get few...
Read moreHad dinner at this restaurant. Ceasar salad was really good, baked chestnut mushrooms were quite nice too. The atmosphere is great, it makes you want to relax and helps with enjoying the meal. My favourite part was the service though; very attentive, polite, and pleasant. If you're staying at Dutch Deaign Hotel Artemis, you have got to eat...
