“If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen!”.
It was lunch time and a bit busy, let’s say 10 customers, but nothing really crazy (in my opinion). Next to that the weather was hot (31c) and humid, and the kitchen must have been hotter. Orders were taking quite a while, but perfection requires time, right?! (We ordered 1 burger, 1 hot dog & 1 fries) After 10 minutes I checked with my wife how things were going, people before her were also still waiting. At that moment the chef barked “Please stop corona, spread out! Give each other room.” Okay, in this day and age that could be quite considerate, so everyone backed up a bit from the counter. (Which was the only place with a bit of shade).
After taking the kids to the adjacent beach for another 10 minutes, we came back and the order still wasn’t finished. I asked my wife what was up and she said “I think that’s our order”, pointing at two wrapped packages. At that moment the chef barked again “I can feel all your eyes poking in my back. Can you please all turn around and enjoy the seaview?! Stop looking at me!” My wife asked the lady whether those two packages were our order (they had been there for several minutes already). The lady replied “yes, but I am still waiting for the fries”. The fries were not even in the fryer at that point. My wife asked to take our order without the fries, to which the chef growled to the lady “DO IT!”.
We paid and left. What a horrible experience. I must say, the burger and hot dog were okay. Definitely not the best we ever had, but they were okay. Nothing to fault there. But the customer experience was far below anything I’ve experienced in a while. If you treat your customers this way, you better not run a public and open kitchen, which a foodtruck basically is.
I gave 2 stars because the food was alright. But because of grumpy chef I would never go back, nor recommend this...
Read moreThis man makes burgers so juicy, and fries that come straight out of heaven. I never ever in all my life had a meal this outstanding and it surprised the heck out of me. Now, back home, I seriously am graving to have a burger and fries like he makes. But there lies the problem, that’s not an option because we only have “do it quick and make more money” and “who cares about food” joints. Whenever you are on Bonaire, you can visit this maestro (not on Sunday or Monday) and order everything there is on the menu. Everything is made with the same amount of love and care and is very, very tasteful. If someone says otherwise or is complaining about the service…. I assure you, that’s not true and they give there review for the wrong reason. I am in love with the mosquito repellent fries and every burger on the...
