We decided to stop by here after being recommended by a local friend. We had heard from them that the dinner time and night would be packed so we opted to go just before dinner time and grab a drink at happy hour.
Even at this time of day, the parking lot that they have was a little full, but we were lucky to be able to find a spot that someone had just left. Their parking lot is quite small and fills fast so if you come during a busy time, expect to find parking on the street or further away. There is plenty of scooter parking near the front, but I wouldn’t recommend that for the island in its entirety.
When we arrive, the staff was cordial at the desk, but not exactly friendly. We stated that we had just want to come for a couple drinks and just sit with beach views. They mentioned the cabana offerings and their costs for rental, but we once again told them we were fine sitting on their covered patio space for just a single drink, since we had dinner reservations elsewhere.
We ended up finding a spot at the corner of the patio, which was great because I had gotten sunburned earlier in the week and needed some shade. When we sat down, our waiter immediately asked what we wanted to drink and we asked for a couple minutes to review the menu.
Drinks were fairly priced compared to the island. I ordered a Mojito. My husband ordered a beach rum cocktail. Both were very good. The waiter didn’t come back too often to check on us since we weren’t ordering a meal, but did come by and ask if we were gonna order a second round. My husband had to go up to the desk to ask for our check so that we could pay.
There was a lot of cabana space that was covered, so it seems plenty of people can come here and enjoy a day. At the time we were visiting, they were setting up speakers outside for the DJ that plays nightly.
We had heard from a local friend that they offer a catch of the day seafood market, but we apparently had missed it. Basically they have a buffet style choice of seafood options you can buy; once you have selected what you wanted, they will cook it up for you! We heard it was every Sunday, and we visited on Friday, so we had missed it during our visit. However, we are excited to return to Bonaire to do it once we can come back!
The menu looked quite good overall for food , and had some of the standard island options. Nothing to me, stood out as unique compared to other restaurants and their offerings. A lot of people do come here for dinner and to see the sunset, and we can certainly see why that is. Most seating areas offer a beautiful view of the ocean, and sunset. I do think it would be a beautiful place to stay and watch sunset if you have the...
Read moreNow that I have had 8 hr to process everything, I am appalled at the level of service that I received on yesterday. To begin, I arrived at 6:30, 1 st dri k ordered at 6:40. I ordered this along with the shrimp appetizer. I made it clear as I greeted the waitress, that I was not ordering my main meal until my spouse finishes his night dive which was next door to the restaurant. She said ok and that we cld keep the table to have dinner once he arrived. I made reservations for 2 @ 8:30pm. While waiting , I ordered 2 more drinks and a dessert. My Spouse arrived at 8:30 ish , apologized for his delay, sat and ordered a drink. We ordered the Suprise 3 coarse Chef Meal . The waiter asked how do we like our meat. I mentioned well done for me and rare for him. Then things went LEFT... Waiter comes to our table and say she cld not serve us that. I'm shocked bc she gave us NO REASON why, but then she came back and said She was Sorry n She did Not AGREE WITH THE Decision to NOT SERVE US! So one day after , I am curious Why. Clearly , I was the Only Person of Color in ure Establishment, but I don't wanna assume race, but what else am I to conclude when the restaurant closes at 10 and you still were serving other people. We made reservations We still paid 59.00 for the drinks and appetizer Why was our dinner refused? Did you think we could not afford it? Was it My Color, bc. I was dressed just as the other patrons were and even the patrons beside me were in Awe Lastly your restaurant closes at 10, we were refused dinner at 9 Ps. We just...
Read moreOcean Oasis and their amazing staff made our dream wedding a reality! From the first interactions with manager John, until the final payment arrangements - everything ran smoothly and with great care for our experience. John even arranged decorations for us. Our guests (from Aruba, the US, and the Netherlands) were all impressed by the great food, wonderful atmosphere, and excellent staff. We couldn’t have wished for a better destination wedding and were able to stay almost entirely within our budget, which admittedly was quite tight for a party of 48. Even though everything was extremely on-point, well thought-out, and classy, our wedding had a ‘effortless’ feel to it. This was important to us, because we wanted a cosy, beachy feel, rather than for things to get too stiff and formal. We planned the entire wedding from a distance (we live in Aruba) and weren’t able to visit the location until a week before the wedding. Any nerves we may have had about this immediately vanished after meeting John and seeing the location - we knew right away that we were in good hands. Last but not least, John and his team were able to arrange a very last-minute birthday party for my husband - accommodating all our 48 guests in a semi-private area of the beach club. I cannot say enough good things about this place and if you’re planning to marry on Bonaire I can highly recommend you contact John at Ocean Oasis. Thank you,...
