Ok, so I’ve eaten here two times. I ate here at the end of January, 2025 and just a few days ago. The service in January was lackluster at best; however we enjoyed the food. It was creative and interesting. We returned a few days ago and the service was excellent and the food great. This is where the story gets interesting. We had the chef’s tasting with the wine pairing on both visits. We spent upwards of $1,800 for two visits. We wanted to have a glass of wine and try a few ala carte dishes which wanted to try because we had the chef’s tasting menus the prior two visits. We stayed at Delfins Resort which is attached to the restaurant. We of course made reservations for table service in January and on or last visit on September 5. We thought we would be welcome at an empty bar to have a glass of wine and a few a la carte dishes at the bar, but as we entered from the Delfins area of the bar, a rude server that had served us the evening before, shooed us away to the hotel bar without consequence and barked that the restaurant was reservation only. Now, I’m from NYC and I understand reservations and exclusivity, however the bar had no one in its seats. The hostess was rude, arrogant, abrasive and dismissive. I was perplexed by the fact that we were treated like this despite leaving a 30% tip the night before. I never write reviews, but I felt this unusual situation warranted a pause for future guests at this establishment. Perhaps the owners should spend a minute and make sure returning guests are treated with respect. We visit Bonaire 3 weeks a year and look forward to enjoying the island’s many restaurants. We have enjoyed your offerings two times in the last 8 months and we attempted to have a glass of wine and ala carte dishes at the empty bar, but were turned away in a hostile manner despite having spent $1,800 in your restaurant this year, we will not be returning. Perhaps you should spend some time knowing your customer in the...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I were thrilled to dine at Brass Boer Bonaire for lunch, having already experienced its sister location in Curaçao. This spot is loved by locals and island vacationers, so reservations are a must.
Located in Punt Vierkant on the southwestern side of Bonaire, Brass Boer is part of the stunning Delfins Beach Resort. The restaurant is the creation of husband-and-wife duo Jonnie and Thérèse Boer, who are passionate divers and Dutch culinary innovators. With additional locations in Zwolle and Curaçao, their signature style blends modern techniques with local ingredients to create an unforgettable dining experience.
While the menu isn’t identical to the Curaçao location, there are familiar flavors with twists. The standout for us was the Dairy Cow Rib Steak, aged for six weeks and served with a perfectly executed Béarnaise sauce and crispy frites—a dish made for sharing. For dessert, the Thai Green Curry Sorbet stole the show. It’s an unusual mix of savory and sweet, featuring banana, basil, ginger beer, and pandan—a truly creative and refreshing finale. If you visit, don’t miss the chance to book Table 14, an extraordinary dining spot with multiple layers of charm. Table 14 is a palapa, surrounded by gentle waves and breathtaking views, seats up to six people and holds a special connection to football legend Johan Cruyff. Decorated with plaques inscribed with his famous sayings and a table with his portrait. To tribute to his legacy, a portion of your bill at Table 14 is donated to the Johan Cruyff Foundation, which supports sports projects for children and youth worldwide. Brass Boer Bonaire offers more than just a meal—it’s a celebration of flavor, culture, and community. Whether you're a foodie, a football fan, or simply someone who loves a unique dining experience, this is a must-visit...
Read moreDisappointed.
The setting is beautiful, but service is painfully slow and borderline passive aggressive. Food has highs and lows, it's very easy to order wrong.
We started with a complimentary appetizer. A glazed cheese ball on a stick, a play on a sticky apple. Forgettable. We continued with the mahi mahi on a coconut chilled broth (fish was forgettable, but broth was tasty) and beets (orange cream tasted like cooked orange juice from a bottle). We were offered complimentary bread (very dense) and onion miso infused butter (it was one-note onion, no taste of miso). We continued with the snapper (delicious, but leeks were fibrous) and avocado (what a disaster, avocado was hard and the whole thing was a one-note madras curry nightmare).
Dessert was the deconstructed apple pie. Apples were mostly tastless, all different elements were also forgettable.
We had the kids menu for our child. All the elements were perfectly executed - soup, pasta and dessert. Menu is offered without a price, when we visited the full course kids meal was $60.
It could be much better. Faster, more welcoming service would be a good place to start. Setting is incredible, if you don't mind the insects flying...
