Mexicaans Restaurant El Comal — Restaurant in Brunssum

This place is a disgrace of a Mexican restaurant. Not to mention 2 tacos for 15 or a burrito for 18. I have been to many different countries and this by far is the worst place I have ever been to. Let’s start off with drinks, there is no type of Mexican choices starting with Mexico’s most popular michelada. The only Mexican beverage they have is a corona. Now onto the food, a simple caldo de pollo, they use canned soup. If you are claiming to serve Mexican food first start by figuring out what each dish has or how it’s made. What we got was a chicken noddle soup from a can. Next to the tortillas, they give you some from a pack you pick up at Aldi, burrito flour tortillas do not go with tacos. Also, although the menu clearly states that beans and rice come with, you have to remind them to bring them and when you do they get irritated. Lastly nachos, there is a new invention called nacho cheese. They literally put the chips and then cheese and then put it in the microwave, meaning if you don’t eat it fast even the cheese gets hard and all sticks together. We were shown to our table but then totally ignored until we had to ask for a menu. We were immediately asked what we wanted to drink without having the chance to look at the selection. We then had to ask for our order to be taken despite customers arriving after us having their orders taken before us. The couple on the next table also had to ask for their menu. The girls were standing around with nothing to do despite us waiting to order. When the food came it was not authentic Mexican and in fact we left most of it. We asked for the bill just to get out of there. It was a staggering €60 which, for very poor service and food was extraordinary. We will never visit again...

Ik kom al jaren bij El Comal, vooral voor de overheerlijke steaks, en deze avond hadden ik en mijn vader ook enorme zin ons weer te laten verwennen bij El Comal.

Nadat we ons drankje kregen vroeg ik naar de chips met dip die je standaard krijgt. "Nadat u besteld hebt" werd er gezegd. Ok, we waren nog even aan het kletsen met ons drankje erbij dus even wachten op de chips is geen probleem.

Even later kwam dezelfde serveerster langs om onze bestelling op te nemen. Wij waren nog volop in gesprek, menu kaarten open, en zeiden dat we nog geen keuze hadden gemaakt. Even later kwam een andere serveerster en wederom waren wij nog niet klaar om te bestellen. Vrij snel daarna hadden we onze beslissing gemaakt en lagen de menu kaarten dicht op de hoek van onze tafel zodat het personeel kon zien dat we klaar waren om te bestellen. Vervolgens duurde en duurde het maar voordat er weer iemand langs kwam.

Uiteindelijk komt er een serveerster langs met drankjes voor een andere tafel, en loopt met de lege glazen langs ons af. Ik spreek haar aan dat we klaar zijn om te bestellen. "Ik kom zo bij u" is het antwoord. Daarna komt de oorspronkelijke serveerster en gaat de bestelling opnemen bij een andere tafel naast ons, waarop ik zeg; pardon, wij zijn ook klaar om te bestellen en de reactie was "ik kom zo bij u".

Toen was ik er klaar mee, en vroeg om de rekening. Het personeel vroeg toen ineens wat er mis was en beweerde 4x bij onze tafel te zijn geweest, maar het was 1x deze serveerster, en 1x een andere, waarna ze ons extra lang lieten wachten en vervolgens eerst een andere tafel opnamen terwijl ik al aangegeven had klaar te zijn om te bestellen.

Een ENORME slechte service vandaag, en een verpeste avond. Dames van de bediening, leer alsjeblieft hoe de horeca werkt want...
