I and my family have been frequenting this cafe for at least the last 20 years. It was a good place to stop for a coffee and/or a bite to eat whilst in town. In recent years however, the place has gone downhill in terms of quality of food and staff courtesy, so much so that we have now, after a visit two days ago, have said that we will never step foot in this place again. The owner is unbelievably rude and impolite and stated that he dislikes foreigners because 'they always complain'! (there is a large international organization nearby). He either forgets or doesn't care about the first rule of customer service i.e. the customer is always right! We take our family, friends and visitors there since it does have a nice atmosphere (as close to an English pub that we can get!). Our favourite food is their pancakes. Several times we have returned them with small complaints but when I get a pancake that is literally black on one side I do wish to have a discussion with the waiter, the owner, the chef et al on whether the pancake is burnt or not which is what happened. My friends and I at the time were flabbergasted that they would argue like this. There have been various other instances which we were not happy about but decided to overlook and returned. However this time was the last straw. We ordered our meals and drinks and then two members of our party (visitors from UK) requested a glass of tap water. Apparently they have no tap water. Ok we will order one glass of bottled water. We received two glasses of water. On receiving the bill we were in complete shock when they charged Euro 10 for it. On leaving we tried to express our disbelief at the cost of a glass of water and the fact that we had initially only wanted tap water and then actually only requested one glass of bottled water and certainly would not have accepted the second glass had we known the price! The waiter and owner were not understanding, in fact quite the opposite, seeming to be off-hand and downright rude, saying 'it's always the foreigners who complain' and there's nothing wrong with the price of water as it's the same price one would pay for a glass of cola. Mmmm. We could overlook the price of water, knowing never to order it again, but it is the attitude of the owner and some members of his staff that is unacceptable and has become intolerable. Sadly we will not enter this place again unless with a bit of luck it will come under...
Read moreI visited during the lunch hour with a friend at 130pm. Sat down inside and it a nice place all around. Food was delicious and price was a little high. Left at 430pm disappointed and dissatisfied.
Issue lies in service. 30 minutes between drinks and another 30 between our appetizers. While my main course came out fast at 45 minutes, my buddies entree and second plate was forgotten. The excuse given was the waiter put the ticket in and it was accepted but the chef forgot two orders of food. After an hour and a half we asked the status of our plates and was told another 30 minutes since It was busy. We left after 40 minute waiting for that food to come out.
They removed the food from receipt and did not offer an apology or did anything to show sincerity towards our negative visit. Would not recommend or...
Read moreWandered in and were treated to an amazing evening. Love the decor with beautiful fall coloured leaves scattered about the floor. Beer selection is impressive although they were out of the one Chemay we wanted. We had the chicken sate and without doubt, the most tender chicken I can recall eating. Fabulous. The sate sauce was okay, Would have liked a little more 'edge' to it but still it was fine. The portion of fries was HUGE. The garlic mayo was made 'girly' strength. Would have liked something stronger to deal with those pesky vampires! Overall a fantastic meal. Great service. A definite return visit...
