Ristorante Ciao Sorella — Restaurant in Diemen

A pretty decent pizzaria in the heart of Diemen, Sorella has been around in one form or another for many years and the most recent change in owners has done it some good.

It's an easy place to just walk in and order a pizza to go, where as the restaurant has a bit of a more fancy air around it creating a nice space to sit with family and enjoy a nice Sunday dinner (or any other day of the week of course). The staff is friendly but seems to be a bit distracted from time to time, focusing on multiple things at the same time and therefore losing focus and priority. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it is noticeable.

As for the food. It smells amazing when opening the box and even though getting a pizza home in time for it to be still smoldering hot is a tricky business, it was still nice and warm. Pretty much just cooled down enough to eat without burning your mouth. While the smell promises a whole array of true Italian flavour, the cheese lacks a bit of taste and the dough could be crunchier, even after the five minute walk. So honestly, I've had better pizza's. But I've also had pizza's that were a lot worse, and they didn't come from places that really try to grab the Italian family vibe in the restaurant which makes...

I love Aglio olio pasta. It gives respect to all the ingredients,it is not milk based and it is a satisfying dish for a hot day. The Aglio olio in Ciao Sorella was the best I had in Amsterdam. Generous amount of garlic, spicy peppers and great olive oil that has not been burnt. The appetizers were also fresh and delicious- we had the bruschetta pomodoro and the Insalade carciofi. Everything was great and to top it , they have Ferret branca which is the best finishing...

Afgelopen week ben ik gaan eten bij dit Restaurant, en ik moet zeggen: ik was aangenaam verrast. Het restaurant heeft een gezellige, knusse sfeer en je voelt je meteen welkom door het vriendelijke personeel. Het interieur is warm en rustiek, met houten meubels en zachte verlichting, wat het echt een fijne plek maakt om lekker te dineren.

Vooraf bestelde ik de carpaccio, en die was fantastisch. Het vlees was mals en goed op smaak, met precies de juiste hoeveelheid Parmezaanse kaas en pijnboompitjes. Als hoofdgerecht koos ik voor de ossenhaas, medium gebakken, en die was echt perfect. Je proeft dat de keuken hier aandacht besteedt aan details; het vlees was mooi sappig en de bijgerechten zoals de groenten en gebakken aardappelen waren vers en goed bereid.

Ook het dessert – ik ging voor de huisgemaakte tiramisu – stelde niet teleur. Het had die perfecte balans tussen romig en licht, zonder dat het te zwaar aanvoelde. Een fijne afsluiter van de avond!

Al met al kan ik Restaurant de Gouden Leeuw echt aanraden voor een gezellige avond uit. De prijs is redelijk voor de kwaliteit die je krijgt, en de service maakt de ervaring helemaal compleet. Ik kom zeker nog...
