Stick-up Indofood Diemen — Restaurant in Diemen

As a local in Diemen, I've seen this location change between several restaurants in the last couple of years. Stick-up has been there now for a while, seemingly to last which is a wonderful addition to restaurants already available in this part of town surrounding Amsterdam.

The vibe of the place is always cozy, with not too many tables (to making a reservation could be required) so it doesn't get too crowded and loud, and very hospitable hosts. They recognize their regular visitors, but don't treat them any other way than they treat the occasional client who feels like taking a bite. More often than not I come here for take out, but the quality of the food is exactly the same: freshly made and going into the container piping hot. It's always very tasty and quite a lot, so left overs for next days lunch aren't uncommon and can be reheated without loss of flavour easily. My Asian friends also love this place because of the use of spices and how they add home made sambal to every order based on the level of spiciness each of them wants.

A treat to your taste buds without overly complicating the cuisine they pride...

The atmosphere was great! You wont think its a take away,

BUT

1. They have a menu with zero descriptions, so annoying. Like why you keep forcing us to ask you what it is? The lady behind the cash register is explaining every item to every customer, what a hassle. I cant believe they didnt come up to put descriptions.

2. I guess it was busy, but the food is too slow and too expensive (+/- 20 euro Rames) for something that just needs to be warmed up in a microwave. There was a dude who fell asleep on the couch and had to be woken up. I waited around 20minutes.

3. I ordered the veggie Rames and the Satay sauce, I didn't like it mainly because of two things: A) The veggies were mushy (probably from the microwave?) B) they put this kind of leaf in every food and even the Satay sauce. This leaf is too strong in taste, so it ruined the taste big time for me. Why you even put it in the sauce? Its too bad. The leaf may be a taste im not used to unfortunately.

4. last but not least, I didnt think the portions were big to be honest. I read quite a few reviews that the portion sizes were big, but I dont think so...

I am so happy to have discovered this stick-up Indofood! I was on vacation in Bali a few years ago but didnt remember much of the food, until I went here, it brought all those tastes back to me!

The food is so tasty and genuine, as the service with that comes with its equal smile.

We were already back, and we will be again soon!...
