't Smulhuis in Otterlo — Restaurant in Ede

My calamari was fine. The fish-and-chips was marginal at best. The two paper thin little fillets were dry and tasteless and had obviously been re-fried before being plated. The ends were no longer white inside but grey and hard. The batter was hard, not crispy and rather tasteless. Chef really needs to get lessons in doing a decent beer-batter. Chips usual frozen bulk fare and not nice home cut and fried. The meat dishes did look quite good. The veg soup looked very re-heated as the leeks and celery were cooked flat. The pork skewers seemed fine. The peanut sauce had split on the plate and tasted generic and not made on site. The serving ladies were very attentive and were tipped accordingly. We had a wonderful experience at 't Smulhuis in Otterlo! It was the perfect place to stop for a meal. The food was absolutely delicious—freshly prepared, with generous portions that were great value. Everything you could want from a classic Dutch snack bar was done perfectly.

What truly made our visit special, however, was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, serving everyone with a genuine smile. Their wonderful attitude created a fantastic, positive atmosphere that made the whole experience even better.

If you are in Otterlo and looking for delicious food served by genuinely lovely people, you absolutely must visit 't Smulhuis. We highly recommend it and will definitely be back on our next visit...

First time here. Was not disappointed. Did not reserve a table ( which could have been a mistake as it was very busy) Staff are very friendly and helpful and found a table for us..Menu very good, you can have the meal of the day, starters, main and dessert. I opted for the chicken soup and spare ribs, chips, and salad. Both were wonderful. Best spare rids I've had in years. Parking spaces at the restaurant. Is wheel chair and people with mobility disabilities friendly. Dogs are allowed. We will definitely visit again when we are...
