Casa Pepe — Restaurant in Eindhoven

Decided to try the new restaurant in the neighbourhood since the Hout moved away. What a joke.!

I give 3 starts to the food because the ridiculously-small portions we got, most ( but not all) were tasty. That's all good I can give this place.

We went there around 18h on a Thursday. 3 tables including ours were occupied, and around 5 waiters/waitresses were on shift.

Took a long while till 2 of the tables including ours got some service. The other staff, on instagram, I guess.

The problem with service nowadays in these restaurants is that people who are hired, have no idea of what they are doing apart from collecting a salary.

There are no trained personnel who know about the hospitality industry.

Waiters/waitresses don't know about wine combinations with food, don't know how to open a bottle of wine, don't know how to serve, don't know how to carry the plates, etc.

Ordered first 5 dishes, because we believed we would have a decent amount of food based on price. Naah.. ordered 3 more dishes and no proper presentation. Had to wait for the staff to take the eyes out of the phone to request more drinks/beer.

Paid around 155eur for such a joke. Again, most of the dishes were tasty, but just not worth enough the cost.

Only eye contact we had, was when we left the 15% tip ( which kind...

I came for some drinks and a bite to accompany the drinks; and I have to say that I was very unhappy with my experience. This will be the first and last time I come to dine here, unfortunately. First of all, they knew that we didn't speak any dutch (we knew they spoke English as they answered our questions in english). Then they got our order wrong, and we thought that they were offering it om the house (as they kept I tracking in Dutch), so we were waiting for our food for an hour before we had to go inside and ask the staff for what had happened to our food. The correct order came, and it was such a disappointment. We paid 11 euros for 6 anchovies. Once we went in to pay, they also charged us for the wrong order even though it was their wrong, and we had never ordered more than one plate. We tried telling them that they had made a mistake, but the staff was very dismissive and made us pay full price for both the plates. I should conclude by saying that at the time of my visit, my boyfriend and I were the only customers there. I'm very disappointed. We were really looking forward to eating here but left quite disappointed. The “chipirones” we ordered were actually just shrimps and they were extremely salty – almost inedible. The “tortilla” was just a small slice served with a strange green paste that tasted awful.

On the positive side, the fried egg was quite good and the croquettes were acceptable, but overall the food didn’t match the prices. We were also charged €4 for a bottle of water which tasted like plain tap water.
