4/5 – Democracy on a Plate (but beware the ketchup tax)

In a world of culinary inflation and over-engineered menus, Nikos in Mierlo feels like a quiet act of resistance.

The shared sides — fries, rice balls, salad — might be the most democratic thing I’ve seen all year. The mains arrived hearty and honest, as if portion control had briefly been overthrown. Could the sides have staged a slightly larger uprising? Perhaps. But the balance held.

There was no English menu, which led to some guesswork — but the staff were all warmth, laughter, and ease. If friendliness were policy, they’d be running the place and the country.

And then — the bill. A silent 1.50€ charge for ketchup, slipped in like a footnote to a manifesto. Not announced, not asked for. A minor betrayal, but one that sticks.

Still, the food holds. The joy holds. Just keep an eye on...

This restaurant is nicely located in Mierlo and has a nice ambient. The food was good, unfortunately nothing overwhelming at least for the fish main courses in comparison to the prices. It was a handful of French fries for the three of us and a spoon of rice only per person. That is not a lot for a main dish. The salad as side dish for the main course was also small but very delicious and fresh. The service was very friendly. However they messed up our dishes. So organisation could be improved. Overall nice location, but we would not come here again as there are better price/ value...

Atmosphere was nice, all the staff and the service was nice. However, the starter portions were too small compared to the other Greek restaurants in Eindhoven, but they were tasty. Grilled lamb chops were not good, which doesn't require any special treatment. Gyro was full of fat, bifteki was OK. Potato fries served next to the main dishes were too small in portion as well. The overall points were given by the main dish experience. There are way better Greek restaurants with lower points, 4.6 points is just too much for...

Authentic Greek restaurant, delicious food, quiet and pleasant atmosphere, and professional service. The selection of dishes is large and you can spend the evening sharing many first courses to diversify the tastes and choices.
