A nice place, but did not live up to expectations. The form was absolutely outstanding, matching many luxurious restaurants we've been to - perfectly designed interior, great menu with intriguing ingredients, leading to high expectations from the outset. However, some dishes were clearly better than others - we both agreed, kingfish tasted better than tataki, and 'griet' fish with couscous was so great that my partner regretted choosing the seabass, which was 'just okay'. Waitresses were lovely, but clearly stretched too thin, with both serving us at the same time somewhat hectically (my partner joked that by 2nd dish we were asked five times if we want another drink, and he actually may have been correct). Alas, towards the end, the luxurious ambiance shattered - the coffee my partner received was absolutely too hot to drink (he had to wait 10 minutes before it cooled off to be drank safely), after the coffee was done we waited almost half hour to get the bill and pay (can't blame the staff - they were running around all the customers full speed), and we also got a copy of one of those advertising magazines with other hotels and restaurants - absolutely clashing with the ambiance and aspirations of the place. Read moreIn Karel V there are two places to eat. You have the basement and the main floor. The basement is for groups of people and is very cosy and get some good privacy. On the main floor you can eat as a normal restaurant.
