Slot Ostende — Restaurant in Goes

My daughter is a brewer and we visited The Netherlands in August to tour breweries. She discovered Slot Oostende and reserved a room for us. Our experience was unbelievably fantastic. It was a treasure to find, our room was lovely, clean, restful, a wonderful blend of old and new. We arrived wet and tired and were welcomed with open arms and a smile by the lovely and courteous hostess. While my daughter went on a tour of the facility I sat in the restaurant and warmed up with real hot chocolate, made with Callebaut chocolate and steamed milk. After packets of dry chocolate, sugar and milk in the States it was delightful. Our food was wonderful, Servings were generous. Dessert - OMG, the dessert! We both loved Slot Oostende and if we had the time would have loved to stay much longer. The brewer was so wonderful to stay late to meet my daughter. Our waiter was well trained and could not do enough to ensure a delicious, satisfying experience. Breakfast was too much to eat. We purchased wonderful gifts, the white and red hand/bar towels are the best. Everything we purchased and shipped arrived intact, not even a broken bottle, further, they even helped us with boxes in order to ship. The garden is wonderful, note the interesting trees with support under the greenery. Brickwork indescribable, very skilled workmanship. This is a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel or guest house. The restaurant is excellent and we have reviewed it separately.||The accommodation is spread over a number of buildings, separate from the restaurant. Our suite of rooms was spacious. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the location is central, however, there were some issues. Some lights did not work; some sockets clearly needed attention. One day, we were not supplied with toiletries. Worth noting is that there are no staff on reception all day Sunday and Monday. The restaurant, where reception is located, is closed on those days, except for breakfast, and the restaurant building is locked.
