Snoek&Snoek Pasta Wijnbar — Restaurant in Gorinchem

Excellent wines and hospitality. Unfortunately the dishes we ordered and received were not up to par. The pasta was overcooked (holding pans too hot?) which for a 'pasta' restaurant is quite a blunder. My dish, a Parma-ham/peas/cream dish had a distinguishable odor of an abundance of slightly charred ham (Parma-ham requires delicate care when cooking) and overall the taste was a somewhat flat but certainly not bad. The other dish served, pasta carbonara, tasted fine yet the smooth silky sauce was interrupted with solidified egg yoke, something which does not belong in a carbonara. The dessert was a limoncello tiramisu with insect eaten mintleaves on top. The tiramisu, apart from the decoration, was excellent, so where the wines and as mentioned at the start, the hospitality. Would I recommend this place? The price- quality was a bit 'unsettling' although a discount for my request of half a portion, was given. A nice gesture since it was done without my request. Back to my question: A cheerful 'yes' when enjoying just a glass of wine on their terrace. A frank 'no', for the food unless they'll improve themselves on the given critique. I wish them well and hope they will do...

Toevallig in dit restaurant terecht gekomen (stonden bij het verkeerde poortje van Hugo) en de eigenaar wees ons erop (thanks). Pasta en wijn is sowieso een topcombi en gelukkig was er een tafeltje vrij. Als grapje zei ; ik mag twee halve pasta's, want ik kan niet kiezen.... en dan zit je even later met 2 borden fantastisch eten voor je neus. De spaghetti Aglio was perfect! Super lekker, de smaken perfect gebalanceerd. Bij de linguine vond ik de passata wat te aanwezig waardoor ik geen kappertje of olijf heb geproeft. Desalniettemin prima van smaak. Top wijntje erbij (wat je eerst mag proeven voordat ze een glas volschenken en klakkeloos neerzetten) De Gnocchi van mijn tafelgenoot was precies zoals het moet. Geen overheersende truffel. Sfeer is supergezellig. Het ruikt er ongelooflijk lekker! Als je nog geen trek hebt, krijg je het wel. De bediening supervriendelijk en nemen de tijd voor je, ook als het druk is. Terrasje aanwezig. Toiletten schoon en verzorgd. Jammer dat ik niet in de buurt woon, maar als ik weer in de buurt ben dan ga ik er zéker weer een hapje eten! Voor de dame die zo gezellig met ons heeft gekletst ; een pluim ! Je bent super leuk en gezellig. Wie weet tot ziens (en hangt er dan een nieuwe...

Cute little place behind the Grote Kerk. This is where my favourite flower shop was, Belly's. Good selection of wines by the glass. Only few bier sorts amongst which unfortunately Heineken. The owner is really nice though and helped us choose wine. This time only drinks, we're coming back...
