Bakkerij MAMA — Restaurant in Haarlemmermeer

One visit usually isn't enough to know whether a place will be consistent... but, in today's world where people are quick to bash others and businesses, I think we shouldn't hold back sharing good experiences.

I visited Bakkerij MAMA this past weekend and had a couple of coffee, a sandwich and a dessert. I also brought home a loaf of bread and some focaccia.

The cheese sandwich I had was delicious and one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. The perfect combination of flavours in the ingredients plus the fresh bread made it a winning combination. I know I enjoy the food when I eat slow.... and this sandwich was eaten VERY slow! ;) I like the apple tart for dessert, but I didn't enjoy it as much (I think the sandwich spoiled me!). Coffee was good, and the bread and focaccia I brought home were really good too.

The place is small but cozy. There's not much happening in the neighbourhood but not too far away you'll find an outlet mall (in case you fancy some shopping too).

The staff was friendly and attentive. While I won't be in the Netherlands for long and am staying quite some ways from the bakery, I'll try and come back at...

Lovely bakery! Went here repeatedly for a few months and I would definitely recommend. They didn't really change the sandwich menu for two months but I really liked it so it was no problem for me. The bread tastes really fresh and they give big slices. If you want to eat there with a big group I would recommend calling ahead of time. They don't have a large eating area. Just 1 big table and a smaller one. I think the concept of the big table is really fun, sometimes you have lunch there with strangers. Great sourdough bread, baked to perfection! All of their other baked goods are also super tasty (try the mushroom quiche, or the small desserts) and they carry produce from other places (butter, milk, eggs, honey, granola). The staff is super friendly, the prices are low for such great quality bread! They also sell at market(s) in Amsterdam, but the ride to go their shop is super enjoyable. 100% recommend...
