Golden Sakura — Restaurant in Hengelo

Tried their all you can eat sushi offer. For 31,50 euro per person Monday though Thursday and 33,50 euro Friday through Saturday you can eat as much as you would like. No limitations on rounds or even time. You can stay as long as you like and keep ordering. Big plus for that so it doesn't become a rush show to make it fit within a certain timeframe or to get irritated if serving a round takes a bit longer. You can see and order everything from your own device by scanning the table QR code. I really like that. Even drinks are not forced upon you but can simply be ordered through the app whenever you're thirsty. Another big plus. Wasabi and ginger need to be ordered directly with the staff. Not sure why they excluded that from the app. Staff is friendly. Rounds are mostly served pretty fast. Some took up to 45 minutes. Some never arrived at all. You're supposed to order only 3 dishes per person and finish them before you order again but there are no (time) locks on the system so whenever you want you can just push in your next order without any hassle.

The taste of the sushi was a bit flat. No deep real fine taste. The selection felt a bit small too. Nothing really stuck out except perhaps the beef peaces (super tender!) and baked salmon.

The place was playing top 40 songs from the nineties all evening long with a playlist of only 30 minutes so songs kept repeating over and over and over again. At first funny but in the end it drove us a bit nuts. When mentioning this to the other he immediately put on loud Italian music. Not sure if that made things better, but at least he actioned upon request. A smooth Japanese tune would be a better fit. Toilets relatively clean. Restaurant clean and good looking.

All in all certainly okay but not...

When we arrived at the place they immediately accomodate us. But we used our celphone to order and its not going well. I reported to the staff and they give us tablet. We are worried because we are there for about 25 minutes just for ordering and it didn't went well. But when we used the tablet of the restautant then it went well. Its amazing that 2 minutes after we sent our orders, the foods arrived quickly on our table, so we immediately consumed our orders and take another orders again and again. We live in Amstelveen and it's our first time to visit the restaurant. My 4 years old daugther ask me if she can go back again the next day. She love it there because there is mini place where she can play. The foods are really good and i can strongly recommend to everyone. Thank you to all staff who served us. Geen aanrader als je een glutenallergie hebt.

We hadden vooraf gebeld of het mogelijk was om glutenvrij te eten. Dit was mogelijk en de man gaf aan dat er een speciale kaart was. Bij aankomst kregen we een speciale tablet waar de glutenvrije gerechten op besteld konden worden. Bij het eerste gerecht (geen glutenvrij symbool op de kaart aangegeven, dus zou glutenvrij moeten zijn) hadden we direct onze twijfels. Er zat een stroperige saus (unagi saus dacht ik) op en gebakken uitjes. Personeel gevraagd of het écht glutenvrij was. Ja zeiden ze, dus gegeten. We hadden nog geen glutenvrije sojasaus dus dit kregen we even later. Personeel vroeg aan ons of dit met de blauwe of groene dop was. Ze gaven ons maar die met de blauwe dop, maar hierop stond ‘Vegan’. Dit aangegeven, maar ze zeiden dat ze in de flesje glutenvrije sojasaus hadden gedaan (bijzonder, maar oke).

Later een special sushirol besteld met gefrituurde garnaal (volgens de kaart wederom glutenvrij). Er zaten weer gebakken uitjes op. We begonnen steeds meer te twijfelen en dus personeel nog een keer gevraagd of het wel echt glutenvrij was. Ze begonnen zelf ook te twijfelen, dus de chef gevraagd. Ja écht glutenvrij. Gevraagd of het paneermeel glutenvrij was. Ja hoor dit is gewone paneermeel net als als in die tempura garnaal (stond ook op tafel bij ons, maar die was niet glutenvrij) . Ze hebben nog een keer de chef gevraagd en later kwam hij toch terug dat het niet glutenvrij was.

Het eten was vanaf dat moment wel klaar voor ons. Het personeel en de chef hadden, naar onze mening, geen verstand van wat wel of niet glutenvrij is. Op de website en kaart staat dat ze wel glutenvrij kunnen serveren.

Het eten was best lekker, maar dit is geen aanrader voor iemand met een glutenallergie. Geen probleem als je niet glutenvrij kunt serveren, maar dan ook liever niet aangeven op de website en menukaart. Ik hoop dat de allergische reactie mee zal vallen, maar ik ben er toch bang voor.

De man die ons geholpen had was vriendelijk en gaf ons nog een korting omdat het een beetje chaos was. Dat vonden we wel erg netjes. Vandaar de...
