BRHAN — Restaurant in Lelystad

I became aware of “BRHAN” thanks to the incredibly good reviews here on Google. To begin with, it can already be said that this rating is 100% justified.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was warmly welcomed. I was patiently guided through the menu, and I’m very grateful I followed the recommendation, as it was my first time trying Eritrean or Ethiopian cuisine. The honey wine is highly recommended. The mixed platter also tasted flawless. I would have loved to try a dessert, but after the appetizer and the generous main course, there was unfortunately no room left.

Both staff members genuinely cared for the guests, and you could really tell that their guests’ well-being was very important to them.

For some, it might feel unfamiliar to eat with your hands. I personally really enjoyed it—it’s simply part of the experience!

The owners take great care of their guests and are incredibly warm and welcoming. For anyone who has never tried Ethiopian or Eritrean cuisine, I recommend starting with the classic appetizer “Sambusa” followed by the national dish “Injera” with a mixed platter as the main course. Pair it with a traditional honey wine („Tej“), and for those with a sweet tooth, a dessert as well. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a restaurant in this small town. Een nieuwe keuken die wij niet eerder hadden geprobeerd. Omdat wij geen zin hadden om de deur uit te gaan hadden wij besloten dat wij wilde bestellen. Helaas was er op dat moment geen mogelijkheid tot bezorgen. Omdat wij toch graag iets van dit restaurant wilde proberen hebben wij besloten om het eten af te halen.

De aangegeven tijd om het eten op te halen was ongeveer 20-25 min later. Daar aangekomen bleek het eten nog niet helemaal klaar. Ik was ook iets te vroeg dus dan maar even wachten. Ondertussen even gepraat met een hele vriendelijke gastheer in het restaurant.

Een kleine 10 min later water was het eten klaar en de gastheer heeft nog even laten zien wat er in de tas zat.

Weer thuis aangekomen konden wij eindelijk gaan proeven van deze voor ons nieuwe keuken. Wij hadden een mix besteld waar verschillende gerechten inzaten. Deze zaten netjes in bakjes met meerdere vakjes, de bovenkant was dicht geseald zodat de gerechten niet onderweg door elkaar konden gaan.

Heerlijk hebben wij gegeten en het is zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Met het lekkere eten, de fijne sfeer in het restaurant en de vriendelijkheid van de gastheer kan het niet anders dan dat het ook heel fijn dineren is in het restaurant. Volgende keer moeten wij dat ook...
