Decided to use this hotel and the town of Gorssel as a base for three days on our trip through the Netherlands....great find for us. Easy to find the hotel in a charming area of beautiful farms, little villages and towns such as Zutphen and Devanter...Gorssel is small and very pretty with little shops and little traffic....We loved the hotel's location close to Palais Het Loo, the Open Lucht Museum, and Arnhem. Nice to travel all over and then come back to a pretty hotel with terrific service. I booked the Prestige Deluxe Room and was pleased at it's pretty decor, very warm feeling, nicely decorated with pics and flower arrangements (maybe remove one or two for more space)....and very, very clean too. Both hubby and I found the bathroom toilet situation disturbing since you really do need privacy and no door, especially when using the facilities is way too open for even this couple who have been married for a long time. Never used the bath since it was too hard to get in and out for us so the shower was very nice....water pressure terrific....We ate all our meals here except for dinner the last night since we wanted to try someplace else and what a mistake that was....every meal was fantastic. Our breakfasts were huge with cheese, meat, fruit, yoghurt, breads that were soooo good and we were always asked if we wanted a cooked egg which my hubby especially enjoyed...the service from the wait staff was always exceptional, especially enjoyed talking with Ric about life in the Netherlands as compared to the USA...anyway, our dinners were superb. The menu was varied with many choices of meat, fish, traditional Dutch dishes and we enjoyed every one. When we returned from our day trips, it was a pleasure to come back to this wonderfully run hotel and enjoy a drink in the sun outside. The staff should be commended for their attention to their guests....I highly reommend this hotel to anybody visiting in this...

Eerst aangenaam genoten van een drankje op het terras met meer dan prima bediening. Uiteindelijk naar binnen gegaan voor het diner, tafel was netjes gereed voor ons.
Uiteindelijk vrij snel na bestellen kwam het eten, waarbij nagenoeg de hele tafel voor een biefstuk ging…. Het bevreemde ons al dat de bijgerechten er al zeker 5 min stonden, alvorens de rest werd uitgeserveerd. Uiteindelijk kwam er in etappes eten; voor 8 personen tegelijkertijd uitserveren bleek al een opgave. Maaaaar: er was eten! Laat de beleving beginnen..
Maar wat viel dit tegen: de Noordzee en Adriatische zee zijn nog minder zout. Ondanks dat we een aantal dezelfde gerechten hadden besteld (de jus), was deze per bord voorzien van een andere hoeveelheid zout… je kon het aan onze tafel zien aan de borden die nog volledig gevuld waren met de jus, waar de kok duidelijk met de zoutpot heeft lopen knoeien.
Ja ik hoor iedereen denken: dan geef je dit toch aan bij de bediening? Helaas hebben we, nadat de borden en bijgerechten waren geserveerd, geen bediening meer aan tafel gehad. Met pijn en moeite kwam er bediening voor het (half) afruimen van de tafel waarbij we onze zorgen en onvrede over de maaltijd hebben geuit. De reactie is echter waardeloos: “ja dat horen we meer”…. Sorry hoor maar doe er dan wat aan. Vele excuses kwamen over tafel, van wisselende koks tot niet luisterende koks etc etc. Sorry, dat is niet ons probleem maar jullie probleem. Personeel wat niet luistert naar instructies van management of klachten niet serieus neemt? Kun je beter kwijt zijn…
We konden ter compensatie een bakkie koffie krijgen… Afrekenen? Duurde 10 korte en 10 lange… dus zelf maar naar voren gelopen. Stond de koffie en thee op de rekening. De dame aan de kassa kon dit niet van de rekening halen, dat moest de manager doen.. duurde nog even en dacht toen nog even: dan zal de manager zich ook wel even bij ons komen melden om ons verhaal te horen. Helaas had de dienstdoende manager daar geen zin in leek het; de koffie en thee werd van de bon geveegd en ajuus.

Onze tip: doe iets met de klachten. De klant betaald wel jullie rekening en jullie loon, behandel je klant dan ook met respect..
Kortom: erg slechte...
