DOWN TOWN — Restaurant in Nijmegen

We went for breakfast on Saturday. Since the weather was nice, of course the outdoor tables were full, but luckily we found an empty table inside without having to wait. The interior decor was also spacious and very pleasant.

We ordered the Benny Bacon and Benny Zalm. Both were very delicious! 😋 The eggs were perfectly runny, and the bread was soft—overall, we really enjoyed our meal. 🥯🍳

However, unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the coffee. We ordered an Americano to go with breakfast. First of all, the portion was extremely small—almost half the size of a small glass water cup. We ordered an Americano, not a lungo; this portion is definitely not the standard size for an Americano…😕 Also, the coffee had quite a sour flavor. I understand that’s a matter of personal taste, but this level of sourness just isn’t for me. And since the portion was so small, we had almost finished it before our food even arrived 😕

After breakfast, we ordered a matcha latte and an iced strawberry matcha latte. Unlike the coffee, the matchas were very tasty! I definitely recommend the matcha. 🍵🍓 —One small downside though: the matcha latte, which is a hot drink, was served in a handleless glass. Since it was filled to the brim and quite hot, it was a bit difficult to hold and drink comfortably. Maybe it would be better if hot drinks were served in cups with handles.—

I came back to this place to eat a healthy breakfast with my boyfriend. We unfortunately did not like the acai bowl, it looked nothing like acai… even though it was my mistake, as they say in the menu it is a “smoothie”, i still imagined it will be a refreshing meal. It was overloaded with sugar and peanut butter, banana and the only refreshing healthy thing in there would be the berries topped over this diabetic inducing dish 🥲 we are not the healthiest eaters, as we had a bun with bacon and egg also, but still :)) when we tried to tell them that “hei, we do not like it and we want to return it” we thought they offered something in exchange (but that is not the case in the dutch culture, as they gave us another bun with bacon and egg to put extra on our bill) … customer service is indifferent here, also they do not understand that promoting stuff like this as “healthy” is very damaging… hope people...

This place is amazing! Food and coffee! One of the best in the Netherlands! However, I need to somehow give you feedback for informing your customers when you are closed. I traveled from Eindhoven to taste your excellent coffee and food, and I checked that you are open before coming. When I came you were closed, having only a paper stuck on the window that you will be closed for a few days.
