De Waagh — Restaurant in Nijmegen

Such an iconic building, that I had to go and see it for myself. Next time I won't combine it with lunch. The menu is fairly limited with a couple of salads, toasties and fried eggs in various combinations. I opted for the pork saté, which was overcooked and a small side of chips. Some chips were green with seasoning while others had no seasoning at all. When your lunch experience begins with redistributing seasoning over a handful of chips, there isn't much that can rescue it. I have ordered the midday vegetarian lunch ... what a delusion. Two mini cheese croquette and minimal portion of soup (half small glass) and potato salad (mini plate of 3 cm x 3 cm), two slices of bread and one slice of cheese, margarine and 3 other sauce in the mini plate. Price: 12,50 euro. My daughter ordered a fudge cake: it arrived like a mousse spread in a plate with two mini biscuits and sweetened cherry tomatoes on the top. It was not a fudge cake, no. I recently dined at 'De Waagh' and was quite disappointed with the experience. First off, the food arrived late.

When my burger finally did arrive, it was somewhat dry and lacked the quality I expected, considering its hefty price.

Additionally the bun was not a brioche as described in the menu.

On a positive note, the waiter was friendly and courteous, which was a small consolation.

However, given the overall poor experience, I wouldn't recommend 'De Waagh' to others looking for...
