I turned up to this museum with solely curiosity to see what it was like. I was warmly greeted and informed that the tours were mainly done in dutch. However, the lovely tour guide was able to give me a solo-tour in English and truly it was one of the most memorable and enjoyable museum experiences I have ever had. I was fortunate to ask any question that popped up and there was no hesitation in the guides answers, she really knew her trivia when it came to the subject matter. It's certainly a must visit spot in Nijmegen as it delves into the rich medieval heritage and importance of arts and crafts in the prosperity of this city. I would also recommend to visit this place particularly if you are an art museum enthusiast and have visited other dutch museums as there are a lot of connections to be made as you learn during the tour. I must say the language accommodation for me was a strong plus and the hospitable nature of the staff made my experience truly delightful. Thank you to Rikst and the other lovely lady that took care of...
Read moreIt was a very interesting experience. The museum is not an art exhibition but more of a lecture (tour information), so it is not possible to visit without a tour. There is only one tiny room where you sit and listen to the guide and watch a video. There are only a few real art pieces in the museum. Most of them are duplicates. Due to the small number of participants, you can ask many questions. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The hidden gem is the medieval basement, where you can imagine how it used to be in the past.
Be aware the tour is only in Dutch! (They provide you the English description and also try to help you understand from time to time) and the video you are shown to has English subtitle.
Nevertheless, I was still able to enjoy and found out interesting facts (if you are into...
Read moreVisited this adorable small museum with two of my friends on accident. One of my friends was attracted to the display in the "shop window" and when I asked what this store is about, we found it to be a museum about the lost and earliest master painters from the Netherlands. Our tourguide himself helped restoring the building (old house of the brothers Van Lymborch) and told us stories about the brothers and other painters linked to the brothers Van Lymborch, showing how knowledgeable he is. We learned a lot today, thanks for...
